Hi there.

I´m writing about a specific subject. Let´s call it subject X. My agenda is to publish a blogpost, filled with valuable content revolving around subject X. This includes, text, images and the use of infographics. My goal is to convert the readers to new subscriptions or get commissions from any sales by clicks on my links.

It struck me.. I have not done anything SEO-related at all, let alone keyword research.

I´ve done a few searches, and watched a few videos on YT - but Warriorforum comes to mind as I am sure there are multiple IMers here that write their own content and apply aforementioned techniques. I rather take your advice, than something random as everything I´ve found so far has their own method.

- Do you apply KWRS to your posts / articles?
- How you do plan ahead, and what is your research method before writing?
- Would external linking and referencing at the bottom of article such as wikipedia ones add any value?

Thank you all for your input!

What you are talking about is on page SEO. Yes, it is important for ranking a page for a keyword that you want. For example, if you want to rank for "dog food", in your article you should have that term mentioned, but these days just on page SEO isn't enough to rank a website it's far more complicated.

All you need to do is to find long tail keywords that are more similar to your topic, that are easy to rank.

I´ve started to read up on longtail keywords as I find them very interesting. Can you recommend an example of a blogpost / article on the subject that you personally, found interesting, masterjani?

I am trying to research keywords, and planned on using the box google shows at the bottom of each search page called "searches related to". It´s gone. Any idea why, and how I can re-instate that box?

straight up answer by BBB, although there are more to add when it comes to SEO to rank up your site,
but what BBB said is what I referred as a ground work you should be putting into your site, then
you do SEO from that point onward.

You have to consider SEO - always. That's the way to get found. Having pretty content is not enough - you need to let people know you got good content that might interest them. SO, yes, start with on-page SEO and then go for off page SEO.

Since you mentioned you want your readers to become buyers eventually, it'd be a good idea to target buying keywords. Obviously these are long tail keywords that reflect buying intent with the user being in a specific phase of the buying cycle. these keywords are easy to rank for and convert extremely well.

    1. Yes. If you want more search engine traffic, you have to find keywords to base each post on.
    2. Google + experience
    3. Yeah. Linking to authority sites on the same subject improves the on-page SEO of your articles.

In my testing, try not to over optimize your blog post. If might affect your user engagement which i feel that is more important.
