need experienced warriors advice for ranking

They say good keyword rich quality content can get your site ranked high, how come i see websites listed in the top five of search engine results that have nothing more than products and product descriptions and nothing much for content?

I want to start a site selling health products and for instance say I have a product for irritable bowel syndrome, How much can I write about that without it becoming redundant and repetitive?

Having good content is one thing, but there is only so much you can write about for each product.

    I am not an experienced war room member. But I believe this is due to a number of factors. Such as those sites thank rank high without key words may have high amounts of authority coming to them from other sites, good quality back links, or they already rank high for some other keyword.

    Hey mate, I just joined this forum but I have been doing affiliate marketing for about 6 months now and am currently ranked on the top spots in google. So far what I have learnt is that social media backlinks are gold... In 2 months I got my newer site on the second page of google strictly from social media alone. I don't have heaps of content, just about 200 words per post and a few pictures. Content does help a lot with ranking but you can get away with little content if you have high quality backlinks.

    The best way to build a good brand is to follow the steps below:

    1. Active your blog on your website. Even if you are selling products that does not mean you have nothing to blog about. You can hire professional content writers to write articles for you on daily basis. Those articles by time, will get ranked for long term keywords which will bring more traffic to your website.

    2. Optimize your website properly for on-page SEO.

    3. Build high quality and relevant backlinks to your website.

    4. Invest in social media marketing.
