Question about reverse engineering competitors

Ive found in the local market, most of our competitors that have any decent quality are on directories. There's a few social ones too.

The competition is low and these are geo targeted terms so that's kind of expected but is that usually the situation for low comp, local keywords?

The blog comments and other links were horrible quality.

Any feedback is appreciated.

  • I see this in one of the more obscure medicinal professions. I'm doing SEO for a local podiatrist (foot doctor) and the top ranking sites have paid links from listings websites.

    • It's a contractor/renovator. Decent sized town too.. it's pretty much all directories to be honest.
