Adding both www and non www versions of website

I've read the FAQs and searched the help center.
My website is (NSFW) site
Ive added both www and non www versions of website into WMT. And set the preferred domain options as what they are (for instance; for www site is www , non-www is non-www).
How about adding both of them impact/affect to google's index?
Google is suggesting to adding both www and non-www , So why?
My last manual spam action revoked from my www website. But non-www version's manual action still there...
