I am testing out different keywords with low competition for niches I can add affiliate marketing too. Is 1000 searches a month enough for specific keywords. I know it is low but is it doable?

Search volume has no correlation to keyword competition, so no one can really answer that question for you.

But they might try, nonetheless ....

So what about only the searches minus the competition, would people searching for keywords a 1000 times a month be a good time to start a blog?

      I wouldn't say "no correlation".

Lower search volume keywords, for example, those in the 100 to 500 range, tend to have the lowest competition. 1,000 to 3,000 searches/mth also denotes low competition.

Hi...competition is completely different so you'll need to figure out who your up against. However, if your asking about search volume. 1000/mo is perfectly fine and I'll tell you why.

I have keywords which are getting 500/mo searches which if you divide by 30 (days of month) = 16/daily. The reason why this can still be profitable is because I optimized for 6-10 keyword when building websites. Now let's say each keyword has 500/mo and I have 10 keywords, it equals to 160 per day from my keywords (+) (-).

This is why it is strongly recommended you find a handful of keywords with mediocre traffic and low competition which you'll need to test. Look at the equation as a whole and what a group of low volume keywords can produce as a whole.

    Hope this helps!

My idea of the whole picture differs a little.

The whole picture to me would be the entire market related around a main high volume, preferably high comp keyword. The given that focusing on the biggest and most competitive keyword will require higher powered links to rank for.

I find as soon as the main targeted page for links gathers a substantial PR rating of it's own. It becomes extremely easy to rank for lower volume keywords through use of additional keyword filled content and some smart internal linking.

Treating a page or group of pages as an internal hub of link juice (PR), and feeding that out as I see fit from a larger main keyword resource page. It's what I have found most of the hierarchy of websites do with obvious results.

It also provides an extra layer of relevancy from a more authoritative source.

      Just my opinion.
