I think it does, but I must confirm.


Is there a risk for the SEO reputation of my main domain if I create sub-domains for clients that could potentially spamming or contain malware?

    For the record, Google associates subdomains as COMPLETELY different domains from the main one.

    This makes sense though.
    Would you consider everyone who has a hosted wordpress blog (I.E. MomsCookies.Wordpress.com) as actually part of Wordpress.com?

    I don't think there's any risk as subdomains are treated as entirely different sites from the root domain. A good example of this happening is the recovery of huboages from their panda penalty by moving to subdomains. The penalty existed on their root domain but the subdomains ranked well and they regained their lost traffic.

    Subdomains = different domains in google eyes. So no it shouldn't hurt your rankings or reputation.

    Curious as to why you want to do this.

    Create blogs for clients? Make their actual website a subdomain off your domain?

    I did this years ago and wondering your intentions.

    Content-wise, that's the way to do it. It's the way google tells you to do it.
    Use subdomains to actually protect everything by disassociating with it.

    However, the rest of your statements are going to nullify that.

    Unless you are planning on using a different IP for each subdomain,
    which is doubtful as it would be very costly, why would you want spam and
    malware hosted with your site? Do you think your host is going to forgive
    you if it starts causing problems?

    Forget google. You'd have way more problems than it's worth.

    If it only involved junk content and other normal internet garbage, that
    would the way to go. But you do mention malware....

    There are tons of free blog sites. Send 'em there.
