The best online backlink checker is Ahrefs (ahrefs.com). Second best is Majestic (majestic.com). I also use Moz's open site explorer sometimes.

To check backlinks, you can use GWT as well as you can also use some paid tools like Ahrefs.com and Moz's open site explorer.

The best way is to download the backlink from Google Webmaster Tool, but other options like Ahrefs is also good way to do that !

The problem with checking backlinks in tought niches is most of the big dogs hiding their most powerfull sources of backlinks by blocking tools like ahrefs etc on those sources to not allow to track them.

Ahrefs has to on the top of your list with MajesticSEO and Opensiteexplorer as close second.

1. Go to Ahrefs.com
2. Enter your competitors site and click search.
3. From the 4 options presented on top, move your cursor over "lnbound links' and click on 'links'
4. You'll have a new set of options now, click on "DOFOLLOW"

These are the links you want to be focusing on since they're the reason why your competitor is ranking for the keywords you're competing for and then try and replicate the legitimate ones.

Same goes for Majesticseo and Opensiteexplorer .

I personally feel open site explorer is the best tool to analyze the competitors backlinks but in free version you are limited to use it. Go for premium one.

There are so many websites available online which are used to check competitors backlink from ahref, backlinkwatch and alexa. But you need to get premium access to view entire report.

Everyone does prefer smallseotool even domain authority checker is best but when i check plagirism of the site content then it does show %70 second time %80 3rd time %90 why it works like that?
