What gets your site to rank higher in search engines: for instance, 100 backlinks from a bunch of low key articles and low page rank sites...or several backlinks on high authority sites with pr of 5+
#100 #backlinks #pr1 #pr5

I would have to say from my experience its been several high PR authority backlinks.

It's alot less work and has proven to be powerful enough for me every time.

You would probably need 10,000 PR1 backlinks, but in reality Google does not take them seriously due to the plethora of "fake" sites out there created for the purpose.

Google look for authority sites, so PR5 is the start point for useful links, PR7 is very good, but even then Google looks for natural linking over time with matching keywords linked to inside pages of sites.

SEO is a 12 month project to really start to see the benefits - but well worth it.

Like most things on the internet it is probably exponential, meaning 5 pr5 back links are worth at least 3,125 (5 to the 5th power). It would be better to that the fewer higher pr links - less spammy.

This is the was I look at it too.

Assuming you are talking about the PR of the page that the link is on, rather than the PR of the site, Many SEOs used to believe that PR is logarithmic to base 5-6 (or exponential as auradev said, depending on which way you look at the scale). This means for each 1 point increase in PR you are looking at about 5 to 6 times the juice. So when you move from PR1 to PR5 you are looking at the sort of numbers mentioned above.

This is only a rough idea, but does roughly convey the sort of strength difference you are probably looking at.

Through my own link building, I have found spending time securing a small number of high quality links (as opposed to a lot of low PR links) works very well.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd take the 100 links, as long as you can get them indexed.

Personally to me, PR is way overrated.

But hey, that's just my humble opinion

its not just a PR that makes the backlink valuable...relevancy and trust are the main factors considered...100 comments links from pr2-3 blogs on same topic of mine would be preferable to irrelevant pr 5+ backlinks

I would go for a few high PR links than to go for lots of spammy links. Also what's more beneficial would be getting the links on relevant niche sites.

  • PR indicates the quality of the website..
the better the PR of the website the better the quality of the website is..

so no doubts a PR5+ PR websites would be preferred..

I am not going with PR anymore. And I don't want that.

Is the backlink I got is from my niche and what ever off page methods like blog comments, forum etc is providing any value to the users.

A PR 0 or N/A natural link from your niche is much more better than a link from PR 5.
