Does linking through Anchor Tag helps the particular keyword in get on top of search results..?? Help me sort it out as i am a bit confused in this stuff

    If you mean linking anchor text, yes it helps in ranking but if you mean meta keyword tag, Google doesn’t use the ‘keywords’ meta tag in their web search ranking.

    Anchor text is the keyword, keyword phrase or any other text you enter as the link text when creating a link in a web page or post and it is what you see highlighted so you know where to click on your link.
    Search engines use anchor text to determine the subject matter and relevance of a web page. Each time you acquire a link from a new site, Google will note the anchor text of the link.

    You can use the Anchor Tag, but need to understand that too many linking through money keywords might hurt you. So before creating links through Anchor tag, create a anchor tag distribution strategy.

    On it's own, then highly unlikely unless you have extremely low competition.

    However, it is an important part of SEO, so don't ignore it.

    Meta keywords are now percieved by Google as an attempt to influence SERP, so it is strongly not recommeded to use them. Anchored links wit your page/domain keywords still useful, but they should be diluted with non anchored links, moreover, 60% of links should be non-anchored, and no more than 40% can have an anchor, because of the same - attempt to influence SERP

      I could not understand which is NON-ANCHOR links. Do you mean the links which did not include the Primary keyword of the referenced page ?

    Anchor text is quite useful but it all depends how you are using the anchor text technique in SEO promotion. As, now a days Google doesnot support of making numerous link from single anchor text. You need to make anchor text on long tail keywords which can be useful also as referring any information. It should not be meaningless.

    Google has become over sensitized to anchor text. If they see too many anchor text type backlinks (using same/similar words) coming from too many sites, it's a sure sign of some type of blackhat backlinking. If you want to backlink with anchor text, just keep it mixed up with the words you use and rely more on co-citation or in context type keywords (near your link) that describe what the link is about. That works even if you don't use anchor text.
