What is SEO and help in setting up a website?

I am looking to set up a website for a new business that I am just starting and although I am familiar with the pc and the internet, I am struggling to find out what SEO is. Also, as costs are limited, can I do it myself?

      From conceiving an idea - to designing a website - to optimizing it to the best is a long and constant task. All I suggest is, take one step at a time. There are many threads in this forum you can start from, as JaySabree pointed out. Just don't overwhelm yourself absorbing all the information. Good Luck!

    There are many important things you need to learn about optimizing your website. Optimizing a website is done for search engines so that your site can be ranked high on SE's. If you do have a lot of time to spend on it then you can do it yourself but as you are not familiar with the link structure then you might get some problem.

    Off-page optimization can't be done without knowing about link structure. You can easily do on-page optimization but you will need time. Daily you need to build links for your website and other more strategies.
