Hi,

The competition for this local business is extremely easy,

my question is, do local citations help rank in the normal Google search results AND the local Google listings? Or just the local listings?

    For local it helps with local and regular organic search. Find highly related citations and they will help with both. It is no PBN, but for Local I think citations are the most important piece of the puzzle.

    Seriously with low competition local results, on page optimization is good enough to rank for 75% of the keywords you will ever target. Proper on page SEO and proper optimization of the Google MyBusiness listings will propel you higher than a site with little on page optimization and a large amount of citations.

    On page SEO is #1 in local results... after that maybe you could focus on citations if you need an extra push.

    I find citations help rank the site organically but generally only the homepage. So if you want to rank inner pages organically as well, this is where you should use more traditional SEO tactics. Citations are extremely important for Local SEO (Google Places) like you mentioned.
