I have a site I would like to take over from a buddy. Long story short he went out of business and gave me the domain.

I have his Godaddy account with the domain name.

The guy that built his site is also hosting it. I cannot get the site from him (long story)

I want to keep the site active and maybe change the contact info to mine (same local business)

How can I resurrect this site? I only know WP and do not even know what his other one was built on. It is nothing fancy and only a few pages, but he has some page 2-3 rankings.

I was going to build a small wp site and try and duplicate the URL structure and everything on the site but is there an easier way to do it and if so how?

I really know nothing about websites other than building them on WP

Any thoughts?

PS...
Also if anyone thinks it would be better to just redirect it to my actual website please let me know. This is a PR3 site (I know PR does not count) but overall a clean site with only a few decent clean back links.

There's a risk in this situation that you might lose any site you build, especially if the person hosting it decides to go out of business. You need to be able to control which company you host your blog with, rather than leaving that decision up to someone else.

    That is my whole question.

I have the domain and will point it to my hosting, but I do not have the actual site build.

Ok so doing some online research

I found Httrack to copy a site in html

So after I copy this would I maybe use filezilla to add it to my hosting?

Would I transfer all the files from Httrack?

Also where exactly would I go to remove a few link and text in the copied site?
