Hello guys,

I'm working on new affiliate website, I've been reading a lot lately about social signals and how they became very important in search engines ranking,

I have ranked a couple of medium competition websites on the first page of google on Jan/2014 without using any social signals ! is it the same now? if you think social signals are essential, then please let me know how do you get them? is Fiverr packages are safe for social signals? do you think Fiverr social signals packages will hurt my website ranking?

Please let me know what do you think.

Thank you in advance.

Make you content share-able. In other words if your content is valueable and worthy people will want to show it to others. Also, make you shar buttons noticeable and not have your users search for them. If you truly beive your content brings value then you could lock your content with an option such as "share this post or wait 20 seconds". Best of luck

      OP: use your instincts.

I cannot remember the last time Google sent me to a second-rate website after making a search query. I'm sure it happens now and again, but it is so infrequent compared to years past.

I'm a very active Twitter user and see companies follow me, and then unfollow once they realise I'm not going to follow back. I also see dodgy accounts attempting to hijack trends in order to push people to their affiliate websites. They get ignored and blocked.

The system cannot be gamed these days, and that's a good thing. The surest way to make money online is to vigorously build a site that people want to visit, and then get the word out as you see with every other business. Do that, and provide authentic value, and you'll go places. You shouldn't need to think about creating 'natural' social signals - it should be an intuitive process.

Case in point: I'm an e-cigarette user, and have seen lots of small e-cig stores start up over the last few years. They usually start with a simple site and a small stock of the kit that 'vapers' really want. They then go to e-cig forums and start advertising their business in the vendor sub-forums, as well as joining the community discussion. Inevitably they set up Twitter and Facebook accounts so customers can reach them with problems, as well as to notify them of new stock, offers and discounts. Those that stick at it are still there, and prospering.

I'll just add to the above: don't purchase your social signals via Fiverr; or anywhere else for that matter. The best way to do it? Receive them naturally.

I think a lot of people involved directly and indirectly in providing/producing them, with various services/software, like their audiences to believe that, and that a lot of people repeat "information" gained from a variety of sources without examining it carefully at all. It would be very easy for huge numbers of people to come to that conclusion without it necessarily being true at all.

    I wouldn't touch them, myself.

Google likes natural backlinks. If people want to share your content with others, and link to it accordingly, those are much safer links, overall.

Then you have been reading a lot lately from people that do not understand SEO. Social signals do not have a direct impact on rankings. Google has said multiple times that they are not using Facebook likes and Twitter retweets or any other social signal in the search algorithm.

Just post original, engaging content, making it fun to read! Try to touch people emotionally with your writing.

My content is being shared constantly and I don't even encourage people to do it, and the sharing buttons aren't that visible at all.

I don't know do social signals help with ranking (I think they don't) but its more traffic either way.
