Exact keyword phrase vs Partial keyword?

I'm targeting a 4 word exact keyword phrase in the health niche. I used Long Tail pro for competitive analysis and see Webmd & mayoclinic in the top 10 BUT neither one is targeting my exact keyword phrase, just a couple words of it.

I realize their DA is obliviously high but their PA isn't so high and they're not targeting my exact phrase. Just parts of it.

Example:

My keyword phrase = how to treat XXXXX
Top 10 keyword phrases = treat XXXXX or XXXXX treatment

Is it possible (with good one-page SEO of my exact keyword phrase) that I can outrank them or come close?

  • Hey guys. Any help??

I really need help with this one.
  • The answer is either yes, no or maybe.

Did you seriously think you'd get a useful answer with so little to go on.

    Don't know your site.
    Don't know the SERP.
    Don't know the competition.

Maybe you can answer some of my questions.

How long is a piece of string and is it long enough?

If you hear a tree fall in the forest, are you responsible for global warming???

  • If you are going to do on-page SEO only, then the answer is probably not. However, it really does depend on the details of the existing sites that are ranking for your keyword and the details of your site.
