Can anyone help: Meta Description Errors

Ive been playing around with the website analyzer at quicksprout.

For some reason, some of my webpages have 2 errors:

Missing Meta Description &
Multiple Meta Descriptions

But some of my pages have no errors at all. Cant understand it and have now spent 2 hours trying to work it out.

I deleted some 'meta name' code from my header php and then I changed my Yoast plugin to show %%excerpt%% in the meta description

but its still happening.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

  • Have you checked the actual url html in your browser, to make sure it's actually missing on the page?

    • No I didnt, thanks.

      I looked up "meta name" on one of the offending pages and I found 3 instances of it: (from top to bottom)

      <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=0">
      <meta name="description" content="The credit crunch was in full force and every day presented new challenges and headaches."/>
      <meta name="generator" content="WordPress 4.0.1" />

      Any ideas?
  • I think that with Yoast Plugin you can modify the Meta Description individually in each page or blog post.
