Wordpress redirection doubt

Hello, I'm new to applying redirections, and will be using Wordpress.

I'm planning to create a web hosting affiliate site, and have noticed that many of these sites use redirections, so I'm considering this method.

I have been doing a quick research, and found there are plugins for doing this, the thing is I don't like the idea of using plugins unnecessarily, so if this is something I could do manually, much better.

What do you think is the best way to achieve this?

And another question is, are these practices allowed by web hosts? I think (although not sure) that Amazon for example doesn't like these practices, but not sure about web hosts.

  • I'd ask you why are you wanting to apply redirects, there might be a better solution depending on your situation.

I'd also ask if the wordpress redirect plugin would be used to fix problems/updates with the migration of your previous CMS to Wordpress.

I'm sceptical that Amazon doesnt like redirects and again would ask for more info before we could give an unqualified answer.
  • Unfortunately, you have to use a plugin because it's the easiest way to create redirects. However, you can also manually edit your .htaccess file. Web hosts allow redirects so nothing to worry about.

    • Thanks for the response

I was checking competitors' tactics, and many of them are using this method, and I feel I shouldn't stay back on this. I aim to rank in Google, but really don't know whether is better to use redirects or not.

      Thanks for the response
