Hey,

I attended a conference last month and 1 speaker absolutely silenced an entire room of elite SEO's - it really was quite something.

Now there is a video of what he shared where he reveals the 3 new major Google ranking factors.

He also shows us how Google are tracking every single website we visit, regardless of whether that site has Google Analytics or if we are using Google Chrome, Google Toolbar or anything. Basically if you use a web browser - they know every site you visit, how long for and much more.

This is proven by Siemens head of world wide security.

This is 100% pure educational content end to end that silenced a room of elite SEO's & could easily have been sold as a product

The 3 New Major Google Ranking Factors You Don't Know About Yet - YouTube

  • Just started watching this. How shocking.

This is why SEO is always tough to succeed with because it is always changing. I'm just at the beginning, but wow, I can't wait to dive more into this.

I always try to never focus on strictly Google when trying to get traffic because the time it takes to monitor every single site you have is exhausting. Hearing about these 3 updates will surely help me out though for the future

    • hmm I feel ...future is Social media?

yes I heard people if you always use google related products like google + , youtube .

your site or etc ...will naturally rank faster than those on SEO , backlink etc?

  • New information?

Obviously not many people think outside the box or have ADD/ADHD.

I think the click through rate was quite obvious once Google switched the keywords into Webmaster tools and started showing you the clickthrough rates.

Although yes, it's good information for those that don't think outside the box.

    But to cheat it?

Is that what the video is all about?
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • Good info, but hardly new. I've been targeting the user experience as he suggested for years, plus doing a lot more, and I wasn't the first to think of this.

As for Google using safe browsing for SEO I've previously looked into that and found no basis for the claim.

The "proof" - which is never actually shown - of Google indexing password protected pages would be major news if it was happening, with massive class action lawsuits, invasion of privacy claims, and government action to follow. It would make the Sony hack look like a traffic accident compared to nuclear war. As he said, observe, and anyone can observe what he claims does not happen.

Moreover, to think a competitor like Microsoft allows Internet Explorer to be used to secretly funnel data to Google so Google can have better search results is a real stretch.

  • Very Interesting and make sense...so how to fake brand(amazon murk?)

Congratulations, you've discovered bounce rate. Welcome to 2006.

Only a moron would rank a page without aiming for a high SERP CTR or high on-page conversion rates.

    Exactly.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Great video... Thanks! Well explained and helped consolidated some areas which I have been looking into... For example the term SBO used has finally put a name to what I was kinda doing with looking at the search recommendations but also realize now that brand needs a greater focus than previously... As that makes sense with regards to expanding user experience signals in G's eyes....

Curious to know more about what he meant by "cloud cover"? Is this some kind of technique to fake user interaction on SERPs with bounce rates, CTR etc?

BTW - I wont be surprised to see fiverr gigs now promising to find your site in the serp with clicking through, interacting on the site and then closing of the browser lol....

Cloud cover is a technical device he sells that switches your IP every few minutes (according to the sales story), no idea if it could really work that way or that you just end up with a dynamic IP same like many ISP's provide.

Rainmaker is a software he sells that runs on your PC and browses other people's sites to fake user signals, it's probably supposed to do brand queries as well. It's kind of double as on one hand he tells us Google can trace everything we do and at the same time he sells a script that fakes user signals, kind of easy for Google to detect if they could really see everything.

Like I said, this is nothing but a soft sales pitch for his product, funny how he managed to fool Matthew with that, though I admit I was at first also slightly impressed but when you really think of it, it's not much more then providing good value to your visitors and we already knew that from the Panda updates.

So lesson learned; Build quality sites that people engage with make sure you have high click through rates but every decent marketer already aims at that, if not your just a thief of your own wallet.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks

  • Meh..I thought Yukon and Kindsvater were probably being negative but I couldn't make it more than half way. I will see the last half over the weekend.

BHW on the cutting edge of SEO? Blackhat being undectable? Those were the first bad signs of what was to come plus the whole thing does feel like a prelaunch. video.

Actually have liked some of your own stuff better.
    • [1] reply
    • I thought that too,
however the guy did make an interesting point that perhaps someone with knowledge in this area can shed a bit more light on, as it seems a tad disconcerting.
In case you didn't see the vid what he said basically was this:

Even without using any of their products, Chrome, Toolbar, GA, etc Big G can track every site surfers visit via ANY browser even when using it in private mode.

If this is true, and I am not techie so don't know if is, it may have serious repercussions for folks who think they are hiding stuff from Big G when in fact they aren't, for example your PBN's.

      Any thoughts anyone?
      • [2] replies
  • Matthew, I like your stuff and things you say usually make a lot of sense, but that part about Google looking at protected directories doesn't make sense. Especially because in the video it says that Google actually *indexed* content in password protected directories. Even if they could, and did, intercept info that allowed them to access protected directories, why would they *index* the content? That right there is telling the world what they did. I can't imagine a huge, clever, legal-minded business would be so dumb as to tell the world that they're going into protected directories.

    The biggest ranking factor is

visitors find your site through Google search

If you managed to build brand name, you have advertised your brand names using many channels, you will get the biggest benefit...

Now popular eCommerce websites in India take help of TV advertisement, and it has gained good ranking in search engine, instead of increasing popularity among Indian populations....

All the pages are well ranking of the eCommerce websites, one for building brand name that is the home page of an eCommerce website...

Well, he is selling the solution in the shape of a product named Rainmaker, so it's nothing more then a soft sales pitch.
  • Good stuff!

Wanted to let you guys know there is a WSO that sells a service that searches for your keyword or brand in G, then clicks on the listing and stays on your site for a couple minutes and clicks around.

    It's here: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...t-reviews.html

I just bought that product above so I don't know if it works. But it should because earlier this year I bought this bot that did the same thing. It was glitchy and didn't work well, but it did take a page of my site from page 2 to page 1. So I know the concept works.

Another option you can use to have searches done for your keyword or brand name is Microworkers (dot) com. You can hire 30 people at a crack to do searches for you.

In regards to hiding your entity. There's a guy who sells a PBN on a black hat forum. He has all these protections he uses. When he logs into his PBN he uses the free Opera browser and hooks up a different IP for that. And disables safe browsing.

So he uses that for logging into/working on his PBN's and for money sites he uses his IE or Firefox browser with normal IP. So maybe that arrangement will separate things enough with Google.

You can see the logo in the video is Dominator Underground. Here is the website: SEO Automation Software.

If you look at that page you can see he is/will be selling a software that does what the WSO software does.

    Interesting

Such software have been around for a long time.

The experience from users is that it has some influence but as soon as you stop using it your rankings sink like a brick in the ocean. That's if we take these reviews serious.

I tried such type of software/script myself in the past as well and I didn't get any results from it. I forgot the name but it has been made and launched by multiple people over the years.

Could be that it's more effective these days, who shall say.

Just bought it as well though I'm pretty skeptical but it's worth trying it again.

I entered a campaign for a kw that ranks at #7, the dashboard suggests 10 searches/day with 4 minutes on site. I don't see how that can make a huge change as I already have 400 unique visitors/day, search not only for that kw but still, anyway let's see, I added 4 different campaigns with different rankings , keywords, volume, traffic and what not so will be interesting to see what happens.
  • i will watch the video first before any comment

  • I skipped most of the first 10 mins (seemed the usual waffle with no substance) to the social media signals (about 14 mins in) and listening to that part tells me John Limbocker is full of shit.

This is the SEO logic behind social signals being an SEO factor.

Every morning I hear a cockerel crow and without fail the Sun rises, therefore the cockerel is responsible for the Sun rising.

The above argument is what those who say social signals are an SEO factor use. High ranked webpages have a strong social signal, therefore social shares and likes are responsible for high rankings.

John Limbocker apparently doesn't understand the concept of correlation does NOT equal causation. He's taken correlation sites with a high social signal tend to rank means it's a ranking factor.

You know most webpages that rank have a white background, is a white background a ranking factor as well?

John you can't jump to these sorts of SEO conclusions, I haven't seen an SEO test yet that comes close to proving social signals CAUSE high rankings. Currently it would appear social signals are a by product of high traffic: this makes sense, more traffic = more people talking about the site on Facebook etc...

Some more video skipping got me to the privacy stuff. You think Google would do a man in the middle attack on your data and no one else has noticed, seriously?

Google aren't that stupid or desperate for ranking factors. Could you imagine how much money they would loose WHEN they are caught!!!

I video is mostly bullshit SEO. Wasn't aware of Search Box Optimization, sounds like bullshit SEO as well, but haven't tested the technique, so will have to run an SEO test. Got a perfect SERP for it as well.

Search box optimization works, Goy showed that quite some time ago on this forum.

And it makes perfect sense, where else would Google get these suggestions from, it's not like they're going to manually add it all the time.
    • But on the other hand if you ignore that concept you can make some serious mulla selling stuff that will never work for most.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks
    • The correlation doesn't mean causation go's for all those purported local seo experts that come out with the local

  • Thanks for the video! Interesting stuff.
  • watching now thanx for share
  • Just FYI - I haven't used or test SBO for years so....

However, at the time there was a positive correlation between search frequency and search position.

I could probably build a better bot to do it these days but... meh. If I did it would involve SBO and then a variety of on page actions in either a toolbar'ed browser or chrome since chrome can't differentiate what my mouse does vs what my mouse pointer does when scripted correctly.

Either way, it's one of those things that if you are going to test SBO, don't .... (can't say the phrase because moderators throw hissy fits) .... it.

Guess you're just going to have to figure it out. Maybe a real forum would allow real discussion, but we are here so you get what they allow you to get.

  • Since my first comment I see nik0 posted this:

"Well, he is selling the solution in the shape of a product named Rainmaker"

    and this

"Cloud cover is a technical device he sells that ... "

That's enough for me, my bullshitometer has just gone off the scale...

Allied to the fact, if what Mr whateverhisnamewas said was proven beyond doubt, why didn't he file a lawsuit and bust it wide open?

Makes me wonder also if the guy from Siemens is a relative, friend or oblivious.

So it seems like Yukon has summed it up nicely...

"BS for 47 min. then defines bounce rate like it was invented today. " Lol.

    • If chrome tracks website visit meta can you show me the source code that sends that meta to google? chrome is open source, so start digging. until then, i'm gonna call this bullshit
  • That cloud cover thing is basically ToR (free, open source etc) with a hefty price tag pre-installed on a server it seems.... A bit dubious to say the least... and that rain maker could be another way to bring out those tears - or tears of joy perhaps lol...

Saying that the idea of using peer to peer to hammer G with SBO make sense (versus the large number of IP proxies needed otherwise) but suspect that simply using different user agents within a script is not really effective as it is easy to detect that it's not an actual browser unless the script took in account of other browser footprints... Saying that it would be interesting to know whether that really is the case wrt G's current setup as it seems even a simple script worked a couple of years back noting Goy's response above...

I can't help feeling that a better approach would be to script it on a web page and hence leveraging site visitors to execute the search on your behalf lol... The exact details I'll leave it your imagination as any more is going beyond the ragged edge for this forum ;-)

That said I agree with the general consensus... G collecting data from all browsers and bypassing password protected pages is insane... especially given the damage this would cause to G's rep... I'm surprised that Matt W would seem to believe that.... that I side I did find some good stuff in the vid wrt SBO/branding and appreciate that...
  • Well, no... the idea was to create a domain name that sounded like something appealing for a person looking in that category of product so that when they began to type out the type of product they were looking for, autosuggest would populate an appealing looking option....

Not sure why you said no.

The auto suggest is created by traffic typing keywords which is the same as someone clicking an internet shortcut on their desktop that lands on Google search. The search query is automated by the desktop link.
