Hi everyone

First of all I would like to give a big thank you to all the participating members as I have gained a lot of knowledge from this website in regards to SEO.

My new ecommerce website will be launching soon and i just wanted to get a few things clear.

1. My website has a blog page - Shall i write blog on my website blog page or on different blog platforms such as Wordpress etc?

2. Building Backlinks - Still a little confused about this whether you should post backlinks of your blog/youtube videos/articles etc rather than your website as it is safer?

Your help will be appreciated

    I suggest that you write both on your websites and in othe blogging platforms. You can update the blog sites on your website with hogh quality content al least twice a week and you could also post blogs to other blogging platforms with crosslink leading to your website.


    2. Building Backlinks - Still a little confused about this whether you should post backlinks of your blog/youtube videos/articles etc rather than your website as it is safer?

    High quality backlinks is important in making your website visible. Leave backlinks to authoritative sites and make sure the website is not spammy.

    Rule of thumb, write high-quality contents in your web site, but post summarized info to as many places as you want to broadcast your messages and build backlinks in reputed blog platforms or social network sites or web 2.0 sites.

    Blogging has been biggest part of SEO for few years in SEO.

    Yes you need another platform for your Blog Post. If you only post your own website it's means you only do self promotion. Most of social site is not allowed self promotion and also gain more traffic is so hard. Web 2.0 is still beneficial stuff for creating Blog and also making backlink.

        For me it's WordPress all the way. There is literally a theme or a plugin for anything so you can build yourself a really cool blog with relative ease. Furthermore, it is the mainstream approach and if you get stuck there will definitely be an active forum where people can help you.

        Keep the main post on your Blog. Post relevant and teaser articles at other blogging platforms and link them back to your Blog.

        NOTE : Make sure the content is relevant but not duplicate. Google doesn't appreciate duplicate content.

          This is a very good list, some more rarely heard about sites mentioned here. And, most people don't even think to use Facebook notes. Though Facebook has no follow links, its still considered an authority website. So it's worth getting a backlink from especially in the notes. These notes will rank highly on Google search (assuming the page has valuable content) and generate direct traffic from those who find them via Google search.

    Dont think about link building. Promote your website blog. Ex. You can share updates about your website, offers, giveaways etc. People will start subscribing your newsletter, and there by you can improve your reach. Its always better to keep a blog inside your website.

    Hosting a blog on your website is a much better option as it allows you to have constantly updated content on your website. It's better to host the blog on the main folder or a subfolder than on a subdomain or on another site.

    You can hook up a WordPress blog onto your website (www.yoursite.com/blog). There, you should blog about your business, products, services, etc.

    It's also good to set up separate blogs with different content if you can, and then link back to your website/original website blog.

    Guest posting on other people's blogs and linking back to your website is also good stuff.
