Is the Web 2.0 still worth something even though there are no links pointing to it?

Let's discuss.

If you mean free blog hosting blogs like blogger, wordpress and other platform, the answer is no. You need to treat them more than a source of back links. You need to update them from time to time, send back links, and some social media engagement.

Hi, I created a web 2.0 site a while back and I just checked the stats of it and it has a 28 DA - which is pretty good.

It has some nice content on it, it has like 3 backlinks and it has 28 DA?

Why is this? Is that normal?

Well lo and behold, you might have created something that actually gains traffic!

I'm assuming that, by saying 'created a web 2.0 site' that you put some thought into it, some real content, some pages. Something halfway useful at least. People do visit these, maybe not always directly from Google search, but they can and do find these from the 'sites' themselves, from the 'suggested pages', etc.

On a side note, DA means 'Domain Authority', so yeah that's going to be high anyways. PA is what you want to look at. PA is always going to be 0 if it's brand new, as it is with all new web pages. You can boost the juice of your web20 pages by creating links to them, either high quality links and/or megablasting with Gsa..

Caution though, if you care about your web20's and are treating them as your own sites, I personally wouldn't blast them. Just like I wouldn't blast my own site. It's not known for sure if 'junk blasting' penalties trickle down to the site(s) or tiers below them (as might be suggested by the cryptic quote by Matt Cutts, "denying spammer's upstream"), but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the nice post - I'm quite new to SEO so I appreciate the nice feedback.

I am using the mozbar to get the stats from Moz in the SERPS - here is what comes up:

It has a PA of 28 - which is good.
Although it only has 2-3 real links, some of which are no follow so why is it such a high PA?

I did some scrapebox blog commenting on it a couple of weeks ago.

Is this something which could possibly rank a page if I was to create several Web 2.0's? Small-Medium sized competition.

I suppose scrapebox blog commenting could've boosted it, though that might drop off eventually.. blog comments via scrapebox are akin to blasting/spamming. I strongly suggest reading and absorbing Mike A's reply above.. golden super secret agent stuff

That browser add on reports very few links and Majestic SEO is better to check actual links than Moz. Plus there may be juice flowing from links to other pages as well.

DA is the authority of the domain itself. If your site is under sub folder or sub domain then their authority will be measured by PA.

No but the new link building in 2015 and beyond will probably involve web 2.0s with very weak expired domains pointing at them. Google is cracking down and getting better at recognizing sites blasted with low quality links. The alternative is to buy weak domains and link to the web 2.0s (or your own sites). In many cases you get the same juice that you would with the blasts (the deletion and nofollow rate on the spam links always weakened them further )
