Many of the SEO gurus say that keyword density is dead. But they are not completely true. Keyword density still exists today to some extent. However, maintaining high keyword density may lead you to be penalized by Google for keyword stuffing.
There is no optimal keyword density for a piece of article. It all depends upon the type of article. If you are targeting you long tail keywords, you may need less keyword density than, when you are targeting short tail keywords.

As an alternative to keyword stuffing, you can use and include semantic or LSI keywords along with your main keywords. LSI keywords are nothing but related keywords to your main keyword. You should completely forget keyword density and focus on writing a nice article, easy to read. The articles should semantically be about your keywords (include different topics that are in some way connected to your keywords).

Keyword density is not important anymore. You obviously need to use your keywords still, but Latent Semantic Indexing is important these days.

There's not much you can do in six hundred words and anything you try with keyword density is likely to come across as spammy. After all, thats only a few paragraphs of content. Most sites that rank well have well over a thousand words per page. Rather than creating more thin content pages, take your time to flesh out the content on each page.

Don't go out of your way to cram your keyword(s) into the page in an unnatural way.

Thank you all for your advice, it is apparently better to think in terms of themes rather than keywords.

If your site is new then updating of websites such as adding of pages and navigation will surely come along your way. As per keyword density, I suggest that you focus on writing your article on a natural flow, of course with keywords on it but specifically for your readers purpose and not for search engine only.
