  • I would say from a marketing perspective that this is a good domain name because it is memorable, just as long as your site is actually about weight loss.
  • I see that the domain redirects to a completely irrelevant site. So maybe you asked this question because you were in doubt about it's effectiveness if 301ed to your money site. If that was the reason behind your question, you've got your answer.
  • Its a good domain, go for it. But be ready to spend a lot in trying to rank.
  • honestly domain too loud sounds even more like a fantasy. come up with something solid and on that was more like a reality that solves the problem.
  • Megaweightloss.com certainly has to possibility of ranking well for the weight loss niche.

    But, it appears to be currently used as a 301 direct to a horrible and unrelated site...so that will totally hurt that redirected site.

    If the weight loss domain had some PR ranking, redirecting would still have little effect upon the landing site.

  • In my opinion its not so effective for SEO. Because its not relevant with weight loss keywords and all.it hard to get ranked well.

    • I believe the EMD technique is not for those who want to create a website with a sustainable position in the future. It's for those who think in terms of SEO and those who want to make profit quick term.
      I've done consultancy for a local accounting firm that had 2 sites:
      • one site that had a brand name as domain.
      • and one site that had commercial keywords in the domain name.
      When I had to go back to their website I only remembered the one with the unique brand name as a domain.
      You would think that having keywords similar to your topic would help you become more visible on the internet and be remembered with more ease, but it's quite the contrary.
      The problem that they faced was that there were 5 other domain names similar to theirs but with variations.
      So if you have Megaweightloss somebody will go for Megaweightlosses and so on. So it's not memorable at all. Keep that in mind when you're choosing the name.

    Yes it is a very good domain to go with. All you need to do is to maintain site with quality content and promote it in authority websites, which helps to stay for a long time.
  • EMD's are not much of an advantage anymore, and can even be a disadvantage if you're not careful, as they leave you more susceptible to an over optimization penalty.

    Branded is the way to go, these days.
