I am wondering if a domain has anything to do with ranking anymore.
I am not talking about how old it is and such, I'm talking about should I go with one domain over another for SEO purposes? Or do things like length and keywords in the domain do nothing nowadays?

Thanks for any info on domain name SEO.

While an exact match domain does not give as much of a boost as it once did there are still some advantages to using them in the long term. Example would be the fact that an exact matching name should be more likely to gain that particular anchor text vs a brandable name.

What about length? Is it still good to have around 9 characters or below?
I'm guessing so even for other purposes other than SEO as it would be easier to remember.

Domains make little difference in SEO today but they can make a huge difference in other aspects. Generally, the shorter the domain, the better. Short domains are not only easier to remember, they also look more professional.

This is a BS myth that was started by SEOs because EMDs aren't always easy to find. EMD still matters greatly.

If I told you EMD was the most important ranking factor and you didn't own it would you still want to buy my SEO services? If you do launch jacking or anything of the sort you will see the domain name still has the most authority.

the length of domain will effect on the SEO ranking. Google always love the short domain name.

Many SEO strategists would purchase exact match domains (EMDs), which are domains that exactly match the keyword phrase they are targeting. For example, if they want to rank for “buy green widgets” the person might purchase BuyGreenWidgets.com. EMDs offered two advantages.

The presence of the keyword phrase in the domain was itself a ranking factor.
The presence of the keyword phrase in the domain encouraged other webmasters to include
The keyword phrase in the anchor text when linking to the site.
