Duplicate content, Ranks in such situation?

Hi mates...

I am A beginner in SEO, and have 2 questions from experts please:

1. do YT videos rank for duplicate contents in Goggle and in YouTube? Duplicate content can be an article taken from Google or taken from another YT video....

2: If "part of" "an" article in a website -or in the YT video description- be duplicate and part of it happens to be unique, then that page does not rank for the said article or it does not rank just for the duplicate "portion"?

    Youtube has tons of the same videos...who cares? When I search,
    I seem to get at least 5 or 6 each time. "course I normally search
    for some music video, tv/movie clip, etc. That's ripe for getting
    the same video across the board.

    Description? Other stuff? A good trick is to use the same things....
    when a situation calls for it. You should want your other videos to
    show on the same page....

    You sound as if you think no pages ranking in google have duplicate
    content. Amazon has more than the average bear. Do they not rank?

    Somewhere you heard a guy who knows a guy whisper something offhand
    about duplicate content.

    Why not just do original stuff and be done with it?

    If people just created good stuff, they would not give a rat's behind about
    some google shmooze and duplicate content. Amazon, wikipedia, etc.
    could care less that they use it.

    Seriously...what are you going to do on youtube? Copy half of a video?
    Run the rest backwards?

    It won't really matter if your description content is duplicated from another site as Youtube will almost always rank higher, due to its authority status in Google search than most other sites. So it's likely whatever you post there will rank higher than the original page you posted it on.

    Duplicate content is a non-issue as long as it isn't a 100% duplication. I've ranked sites with copied product descriptions from Amazon and I see many e-commerce sites rank with the same copied descriptions.
