  • Since you already know the topic, the simple answer will be to just use Google Keyword Planner.

But a host of others are doing it too, and unless you are in a niche that has not been noticed by SEO fanatics everywhere - you will find it hard to get heard.
More over, although Keyword Planner shows related keywords for the one you searched for, it does not cover everything.

A better way to find out for stuff will be to browse through forums related to the topic and find out what people are indeed discussing about. If the topic is covered in some popular magazines, use that information to find out keywords hidden in plain sight.

You would also want those keywords and phrases that are coming into limelight now, but they may not have an awful lot of traffic right now. They may have low search volumes (500-1000), but you will not be able to find any older information on those. You could use "Show Average Monthly Searches for" section to filter out results and check out the timeline filter.
  • Yes keyword planner is all you should need in my opinion.

However, make sure if you find keywords you check the first page og google and if there are authority sites ranking for those keywords. If the competition is too high you'll never rank anyway. So make sure not to forget this important aspect.
  • You may want to look into getting a program like 'Long Tail Pro,' it's what I use and makes the whole process super easy.

  • keywords research is the best one part of SEO .keywords are based of all SEO techniques.
  • You made a mistake right from the get-go by starting a website without any keyword research. Keyword research is the first step you should take before starting a new website.

Nevertheless, I usually find keywords using Google's keyword planner and manually evaluate them to ascertain how profitable they are and whether they are low, mid, or high competition keywords.

    • Note to the OP, Google Keyword Planner (GKP) is designed for advertisers. So if you're building a site for them to advertise on (through adsense), then you want keywords that are labeled as high competition in GKP. This means that many advertisers are competing for the ad space available. A lot of people get this backwards.
  • You got to do some studying on keyword research first as you'll never learn it by getting 100 fragmented responses on a thread. I'll recommend learning what a seed keyword is and how you can find it for your site. Don't even waste your time plugging in keywords into Keyword Planner if you don't understand the basics.
  • I think if you go for Google Adwords Keyword Tool then it will be best for you because that tool gives the best keywords related to your specific niches
  • Market Samuari as mentioned already and Long Tail Pro is another good option. Either two is great as you learn a lot about SEO and website marketing in general.
  • I think the Google Adwords keyword tool is the best in SEO and this tool provide all long tail and short tail keywords lists.

  • Obviously you need to start with keyword planner, then use the keywords you get to narrow them down to under the radar, ignored, or under-estimated ones that are profitable. I manually do this in a system shown to me by a Warrior that nobody is using. PM me for more details.
