Well, every extension is good ! In fact SEO doesn't depends upon the extension, I would say it doesn't matters whatever extension you choose.

I don't think domain extension has anything to do with your website performance. But if you have local business you should get country based domain extensions.

It does matter, but it depends on where do you aim with your business (geographically) and what's the range. As mentioned local TLD is better for local business and .com is better for international business than for Puerto Rico family business. (although you can still make local domain extensions rank very well for global serps).

Matt Cutts, Google engineer doesn't seem to think that extension has much to do with how a site is ranked.

    https://plus.google.com/+MattCutts/posts/4VaWg4TMM5F

He would be considered a Google expert, so I'd go with his opinion on this

After all, the extension of a site, does not determine that site's true relevance.

Some .info sites are far more relevant than their .com counterpart with same name.

In other places, I have read where Matt Cutts says that an authoritative .com site has as much value to Google as a .edu site. So that's another point to consider, how the content of a site is still more relevant than the TLD you pick.

    Go read the results again.

    Correlation does NOT equal causation.

Serious businesses tend to use extensions like .com, .co.uk, spammers are more likely to use .info domains because they are much cheaper. There will be a correlation that .info domains do not rank as well as .com, not because Google cares about extension per se, but .info tend to be rubbish sites.

For example I've used a fair number of info domains for blackhat SEO tests because they were cheap at the time ($1 for a year). Who would spend over $10 a year on a domain for a throw away domain when an info was cheaper.

Google doesn't care which domain extension you use other than for geographic results. If you live in the UK and care about Google UK results, consider a .co.uk otherwise doesn't matter.

For USA, use .com .org or .net

For other counties use the country specific domain (for UK use co.uk)

Also.... .io seems to be doing alright but the domains are more expensive.

Personally I always try to stick with .com or .net - better safe than sorry.

    Cheers!

No where domain extension affect SEO, but based on your business you can user certain domain extension like , .Com for company and commercial , .info for information , .org for non profit and organization .

If you are specific about country based business you can use , .Us for USA , .in for India like wise

They are not good unless they are one-word name....

      for example

      interest.me
      date.me
      give.me
      find.me

      friends.club
      night.club

not sure of .company as well

I will not go for .biz, I can use .com instead by adding suffix, prefix to the domain......

In general view .COM, .ORG, .NET are the best.
If you want to start a business site then .biz.
If want to start a technology based website or blog then .net.
If your business or services are for a particular country then country specific domain extension.

    Hi,
.com and .net domain extensions are best to register while gTLDs can be a really good option for services and brands.

.gov and .edu are the best but they have special requirements to own them.

.com is the best one you can purchase without restrictions.

I agree with you. The domain is based upon your location. For example if you are from the UK and want rank in this location then you should take domain name .UK .... It will help to get good rank in the local domain. But if your site is a world based then you should take .Com domain.

Domain extension really DOESN'T affect your SEO or Google ranking. I personally have .info, .com , .net and .org and I didn't notice that any of my sites have problems with SEO or Google ranking because of domain extension.

There is no effect of domain extensions,, but if you want to rank your website in your country also. Then prefer your country domain like for India use .in , unite
    d kingdom .UK etc...
