When i ping, do i ping my home page or updated page

I see you're a prey to those "SEO Experts" who're still telling people to ping everytime you hit Publish on Wordpress.

Wordpress has a built-in pinging system where it pings for you evertime you update your blog.

Unless you're meddling with videos, which you're clearly not, pinging is something you don't have to worry about.

I almost never ping my sites.. still they rank.

I don't not use word press... I use square space and don't know if they auto ping.

Any credible CMS should be designed to Auto-Ping.
You should try contacting their support and see if their platform offers this service.

In anycase, I believe Pingomatic.com is the preferred Pinging tool for many people.

Make sure your site has an XML Sitemap setup. This way when you ping the Homepage, Google's crawlers would use the sitemap to index the included pages.

Tip: For future reference, you should consider switching to WordPress for better control.

Guys... Pinging was useful in 2008 when Google wasn't exactly fast enough. Now you don't need a link, a ping, any mention of a website and they still find it quickly. Pinging = useless.

No reason to do it, but it would be better to ping your homepage as in most cases the big change is on the homepage (the new article)

Stop pinging and start building links. Whenever you want Google to revisit your page after updating, use the "fetch as Google" tool in your webmaster tools account to fetch and submit the site to Google. It's faster than pinging has ever been.
