Use of image name,title and alt description

Hi!
What can I, or should I, put into the title, alt description and file name?
What info should i put in either?

Lets say i have an image of an cupping massage treatment or an review image.
(Should I put keyword, local city and company name in either?)

  • Use all of the title, description & File name. But vary the texts using different keywords and get the maximum benefit out of it.
    Try reading about ImageObject - schema.org as well as the Exif meta data & how you can edit it. It will give you a better idea on higher levels of optimizing images.
  • The file name and alt text have an SEO impact, so SEO wise they are the only two factors which matter. Makes image optimization relatively simple:

    Filename: keyword-phrase.jpg

    Alt attribute: alt="Keyword Phrase"

    If you are targeting a company name or review, create relevant images (not limited to one image) that target those phrases.

    Consider if it's a linked image (links to a webpage) the alt text is the equivalent of a text links anchor text. So when linking using images also consider the page you are linking to like you would with a text link.

  • I ignore the title and file name and focus on the alt tags. Image titles and file names don't impact ranings.

    Title = little to no importance
    Alt = description of the image using keyword or similar synonym

    Example:

    File name: roofingcontractorsaustin.jpg
    Alt: roofing contractors in Austin, TX installing shingles on a new home
