I just transferred one of my old affiliate websites to a new website address and did a 301 redirect. So if someone clicks on the links in search results they will be redirected to the new domain. It's obviously the same website but different domain and did not change any internal links from the old site.
I hope not to lose search engine rankings so I submitted the older url's in Google webmasters "Fetch as Google" section.
After carrying out these steps, my question is, "Will I lose link juice from the search engines after transferring the website and redirecting to a new url?
I have a lot of my blog posts that have been ranking pretty high for certain keywords so it would be a shame if my rankings dropped.
Also after completing the transfer, should I remove the old site completely or does it really matter? I just want to make sure I have done everything correctly so that the new web address will show in search results as well.
Thanks a lot!
