I have been reading SEO tips and there is some diference in opinion is there need for <meta keywords> to be included on site.
I watched video from Google and they said that keywords are not to be relevant anymore for serch engines but when you look at youtube you will find meta keywords in their code.
I know keywords can be used for serching stuff inside your site.

Question is are keywords needed?
#keywords #meta

Google said that they don't use meta keywords anymore, however Bing and Yahoo still do and I just add them anyway! Its not gona hurt having them.

Don't have more than 3 - 4 keywords per page.

It certainly won't hurt you if you add meta tags. And google often says misleading stuff.

Always use meta tags...other smaller search engines and directories use them. Google does not care one way or the other.

Google says misleading stuff...is an understatment!

        Consider two things.

        1. Site speed is important Google SEO wise, having content loaded you don't need is slowing a site down, might be a tiny amount, but it's still unnecessary. This can be even worse if the keyword data is stored in a database like many CMS's use, using extra server resources retrieving data that's ignored by Google.

        2. The time spent carefully crafting meta keywords tags could be better spent doing actual SEO, so unless you can pause time it's damaging to waste time on things that do nothing positive SEO wise.

Using meta keywords tags for Google is like rubbing a lucky rabbits foot, might make you feel like you are doing something helpful, but truth is you are wasting your time and causing a tiny amount of damage**.

** The damage is nothing to your average website, but imagine the time wasted creating meta keywords tags at Amazon. People are paid to add worthless meta tags!

ROTFLMAO! That makes no sense. Many more than 3-4 useful meta tags...
and you can get by just fine with zero. I myself only use 1.

I don't know what planet you people live on.

Meta keywords are not important for SEO but they are important for boosting click-through rates from search engine results pages.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have outdid yourself on that one.

That is so illogical even, I won't even mention it's complete BS thinking.

I will repeat...anyone with SEO Power by their name, and spits out that nonsense,
      well,....what can I say.

Newsflash: Google is not going to use your meta keywords in any way, shape,
or form in their search engine. And you can bank on that.

Someone is mixing up the meta keywords tag (completely worthless) with the meta description tag (no ranking value, but COULD increase CTR).

I hope you don't charge for SEO services with that sort of basic SEO mistake!

Everyone says that keyword meta tags don't matter, but you'll find that 50% to 60% of the top 100 results on Google's SERP use them.

Google has confirmed they don't use the meta keywords. Why would they lie on this issue?

Did you know some cultures believed during an eclipse they had to yell at the eclipsed Sun to scare some sort of monster away and each time they yelled at an eclipse the Sun returned.

          Correlation does NOT equal causation.

Don't guess, use the scientific method, many have tested the meta keywords tag and Google ignores the contents. This is an SEO fact and has been for years.

  • meta keywords/meta tags are not ranking factors on Google or other search engines.
but wouldn't hurt if you still want to add 'em.
