Hello Friends,
I am confused about the following issues:
1) want to submit PDF files which is containing copy of blog Articles
2) want to submit same PDFs in several PDF submission sites

For the above submission what would be the reaction from Google?
Can Google read PDF texts?

Thanks
Atiq

The guys saying Google can't read a PDF suck at SEO.

    Google will:
    • OCR a pdf.
    • Index a pdf.
    • Cache a pdf.
    • Rank a pdf.
    • Give PR to a pdf.
    • Follow links inside a pdf.

  • Google can read PDF. You can see pdf file rank in google search.
  • Google can read PDF files. Search google and check for PDF search result cache pages.
  • Document sharing/submission is more on increasing organic search.
Search engines are unable to read PDF (the content) but the title and description associated with it is most likely the ones pulled out on search engine results page.

You guys are messed up, lol.

What's sad is, this is very basic stuff (all plain text + links).

  • Google Can read PDF files for sure. There are many results showing pdf file extension in search engine.
  • My IQ started dropping after reading the first few replies.

Google reads and indexes PDFs, has for some time, and will continue to get batter at it. To check if this is true, visit any PDF. For example, this PDF referenced by the Battle of Verdun wikipedia page. Google a unique phrase from the PDF in quotes and you will see the PDF appear in the SERPs.

Off Course PDF will be read by the google... For that purpose only pdf sites are there to share your portfolio in those sites like slideshare will increase your traffic more...
  • Google Never consider about PDF files , So its called No follow links , No follow links did not pass link juice from any websites likes slideshare, docstac
  • I've actually found a lot of interesting stuff by google-ing certain keywords and finding PDF files! So, doesn't that mean that search engines can read PDF files? I've found all sorts of articles in PDF files, often they appeared even before certain blogs or websites.
  • People, look back at Yukon's post! It has the answer right there in the link he supplied. Go to the link and read the top of the page:

"Google automatically generates html versions of documents as we crawl the web."

    Yes, Google CAN read PDFs.

  • Yes, Google can read PDFs. It's been known for quite some time. That's why websites like scribd are thriving.
  • Hi.. I have done a lot of researches that took me to PDFs so, I guess PDFs can be read. Maybe you can empower this BY adding your main keywords to your profile in those sites as well as inside the title and the description as people here say..

    Good Luck!

Even with proven examples, you still don't know.
  • Yes Search Engines can read them unless they are encrypted with a password. Though I don't have an Idea if you can use same content on blog or in PDF. But, duplicate content will be there indirectly or directly. So avoid it.
  • Here is a useful resource that answers questions/doubts about this topic.

    PDFs in Google search results

  • PDFs are indexed by Google but some document sharing sites have disabled text indxation in submitted files, have disabled links in them or at least have turned the links nofollow, so any wise person will never afford to dilute the uniqueness of his genuine content by submitting it to the web. In past, it was effective though.
