Question: Ranking a YouTube Video for Business Brand Name

Hey Warriors,

I've got a client who has a competitor that is currently on the first page of Google with a YouTube video for my clients businesses brand name.

The video is a harassment video and I'd like to outrank it. I have 2 other videos I'm currently trying to use to outrank it and have performed good title SEO, description, tags, transcript, etc. I've been building backlinks, have an advertising campaign setup to advertise the video and our video has a high retention rate.

Do you know of any specific techniques that I could use that would help me outrank the competitor?

    The best way to outrank a competitor is to spy on his activity and then emulate and outsmart him. Since he is ranking number one for your brand name, just spy on his activities and add more juice to yours. You'll definitely outrank him.

    The following are the things to spy on:
    1) Backlinks to the videos
    2) Viewers
    3) Title and Description
    4) Length of the video
    5) Comments of the video

    Try as much as possible to add more flavors to yours. If he missing anything important, make sure you take advantage of it and add it to yours.

    You generally rank a video the same way you rank a website optimized on page SEO and backlinks.

    You need:

    * A keyword rich title for the very specific term you are attempting to rank for ( the ranking keywords must be at the beginning at the title not at the end) ,

    *A detailed description with around 200-300 words containing your targeted keywords and title multiple times, and also correct optimized tags. Include the video title at the beginning of the description, and video tags at the end of your description .

    The main difference between ranking a site and ranking a video is that it is easier to rank a video since your video can not be sandboxed and you can build links much more liberally and quickly than you would normally.

    Ranking YT video takes some time, but in your case, I would ask couple friends/colleagues to flag it for spam, misleading, copyright issues... maybe you can get rid of it, if it's a video aimed at spreading negative rumors.

    How many results are there in serps? My guess is, this is a very low-competition kw and may be very easy to rank.
