Multiple Domains on the same hosting account

Hi warriors !

I searched google about this issue but i didn't found a good and sure answer, so I am asking you which is the best...Here is my problem...

I want to register 4 domains on the same hosting account from hostwinds. Each site will be from a different niche, with different content, and i will not link one domain to another. Can i do this without hurting my SEO, or risk a penalty from Google ?

  • It really does not matter if all your websites are hosted on the same account or not.

    Search engines will look after website URL, not after the IP address of the website.

    I personally have several websites hosted on the same host and I had absolutely no problem.
  • You don't need more hosting accounts. Heck, some affiliate marketers host well over a hundred domains in one account.

      Don't be cheap -- use reseller hosting for many domains.

      It's not really a case of "if" you get hacked, but when. So take local backups, and do everything you can to make it not easy. That means more than a single account.

  • Your plan is fine. No worries about hosting multiple websites on the same hosting account SEO wise.
  • No problem with that. And actually all websites that host on the shared hosting plan on any webhosting will actually be in the same ip address or host drive. So yeah..no probs.

    Odds are your on shared hosting which means If you look at all the domains other people own that are also on the same shared host server, they'll all be different niches.
  • It's all good as long as you are not using grey or blackhat techniques such as Private Blog Networks. That may give you off to Google who may then send "bingo" after you.

    • It wouldn't matter if you were using blackhat techniques or private networks. He is talking about money sites. It is likely he will be sharing a server with 85+ other domains.

      I would not put 4 link resources in the same niche on the same server, but that is a completely different conversation.

  • Check whether the sites are hosted in same ip or now. Usually Ip will not hurt you. If you doubt that, its better to get dedicated IP from the hosting provider.

  • Yes, you can use the same hosting account to host different domains. It will not hurt your website and there is no risk of penalties, as many people use the same account for more than one domain.
  • You can host ALL your sites in a single hosting company. Especially if it's paid, there is no reason to use other paid Hosting companies!
  • The same hosting account (say either on Hostgator or GoDaddy) doesn't matter but the same hosting IP (Shared IP) may have some affect on ranking. It will be a good idea if you can set dedicated IPs for each domain.

    • Don't worry, hosting several sites from one account or ip won't have any
      impact on your rankings, simply because Google doesn't care about that.
      If they did care, it would make no difference if you were on one or several
      separate ip's from one provider because Google can identify data centers
      and ip pools. To be on the safe side in that scenario, you would have to
      book geographically completely separated accounts which would cost a lot
      more and only the rich would rank better in that case.
      Take me for example, i run 143 sites from one high-end server and
      have interlinked many of them. Well, i pay $500/month for hosting, but that's
      nothing compared to what i would pay if was using 143 hosting companies
      No penalties so far here, as long you don 't try to play smart with Google.

  • It is nothing to worry about and all recommendations are correct except the dedicated IPs. You cannot have a dedicated IP for addon domains, for one primary only. But good news is you can share SSL certificate for all your domains and this is more important for your customers and Google(?). Also, now you can have all your 4 sites on (one) cloud account...
  • I have never had a problem with this
    I often host 100 domains on the same server though I have never linked them to each other

    Even with sub domains this is never a problem
    As an example look at wordpress.org there are millions of sub domains

  • No problem when you use multiple domains on the same hosting account. I ran many sites on the same hosting and they're still working well until now.

    • I think if you 4 domain in same hosting provider but also 4 different ip then it's could not hamper your seo. because when we use same ip for different website that will hamper your website seo.
  • As long as u r not creating a link mesh between your own domain websites, this has no effect on seo.

    • Complete BS. If you think google does not know all the sites amazon owns because they
      may or may not have their own server, you are bonkers. Just look at the bottom of most
      any amazon.com page. They interlink like a madman. They are proud of the sites they
      own. They want the world to know about their online empire. You think google does not
      know that? That's friggin' funny.

      The world runs on shared IPs and big websites interlink because they know it's
      the perfect thing to do. If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.

  • Yes you can host multiple and sub-domains on hostings. Usually most hostings accepts subdomains but some of them not supports multiple domains, So contact with your hosting provider first !
  • Good replies. I know I might be a little off on my reply, but it relates to the topic of shared hosting. I run 18 websites on one shared host and all the answers you got was correct. I am experiencing an error though with capacity (bandwidth) or the number or links at exactly the same time. I get a 503 error. This is because I have to many people attempting to connect at once and I run some autoposting services.

    I only started being affected by this error when I started hitting the 1130 hits per day mark.

    Have a look at your hosting plan and ask your hosting company about this specifically.
  • Most webhosts host hundreds of domains on the same box using a single ip.
  • This also has to do with your hosting provider if they support certain numbers of domain or unlimited domains on their hosting plan. It does not affect your SEO ranking or neither attract any penalty from Google.
  • No need to worry about anything. In most of the shared hostings we share same IP address with many other internet marketers.

    So there is no issue in it.
  • Don't worry about that. Focus on on page and off page SEO. Google is intelligent enough to know what multiple domain hosting accounts are used for.

  • Just to be clear with this:

    If you have a dedicated IP plan for each domain you will not run into any problems unless they all link to eachother.

    If you do not have a dedicated IP plan for each domain, and instead have shared IPs you may receive penalties if somebody does something stupid on the same IP.

    To avoid any penalties make sure you have dedicated IPs for each domain and don't interlink more than a couple of them.
  • Simply, you can purchase domain forwarding services from your domain registrar to get new domain name forwarded to existing domain's sub-domain. There is no need to purchase hosting account for new domain.

    • You should find out "addon domains" in your hosting/cPanel first. If they have it, register your .ORG > change DNS record > then add your new domain to the hosting account by clicking "addon domains" icon
