1. Add post/share links on all your website's pages/posts and be sure for each one you will use different OG tags to show different images when the link is shared.

2. Create a Fan page related to your website and post a few times/day original images from your website.

2)Create a facebook page and comment on similar facebook pages' post with interesting and relevant comments

3)Create youtube page uploading the latest and trending funny vines and link it back to your website

4) Create a tumblr favorite and follow people daily and post content regurarly.

Reddit is the best option for you. Also, you can try with a good Twitter and Facebook account (Facebook page!). Post often and update in Social Media sites, the traffic would come itself!

I have seen many similar sites using likes of taboola/outbrain! I have seen 2 month humor site jump on alxea ranking significantly solely by that kind of "You may also like this"

Try promoting more on social networks and you will be on the way.
Promoting through videos is also a great method.

Check the traffic sources on any of these viral type sites and they're all over 90% from Facebook.

Occasionally sites like 9gag or TheChive that have a large following and have been around for awhile will have direct traffic. But for any new site, it's all social - and Facebook is the platform of choice.

Also you can run ads to promote your website.

You can easily do this for free or you can use paid methods, if you want faster results. Content similar to 9gag's is usually the most shared on social media, so it should be easy

Most of them became really popular just by accident (in some way)... all you need is one video/photo to go viral, and keep doing that kind of stuff that went viral all the time.
