Diluting anchor texts for penguin issues

Hey guys,

I have been battling with the ahole since it dropped late last year and while I did manage to recover some of my rankings from the reversal that happened, I still haven't been able to get the positions I once had. I have been using some safe links, PBNS, and a service I trust to build clean links and properties to these pages but it just will not budge.

I know this is an effect of Penguin. I'm thankful that I recovered a good chunk of my keywords but its just been a nightmare trying to get these keywords to rank again.

If anyone has ideas on how to dilute my anchors or have a solution/workaround that would be great. Thanks!

    Hi CutPasteProfits,

Sounds like you're heading in the right direction with building out new content and acquiring safer links.... Before taking any drastic actions such as disavowing, which is best avoided - I would wait for the next penguin refresh.... and carry on with business as usual with rinsing and repeating with adding great content a dash of social signals and a hint of authoritative backlinks...

Good luck, Look forward to hearing of a positive outcome!

    Cheers,

    Sid

Don't use your targeted keyword as anchor text frequently for link building, instead use secondary keywords, naked url, and website/company name as anchor text. This is a great way to dilute anchor texts.

Yes indeed that's a great answer! In addition I would add that you need to dilute your commercial anchors to be less than 10% - with long tail variations, branding etc.... In addition you need to be consistent with backlinking velocity...

I would aim again for around 10% of your traffic stats per month - especially as you are on the radar.... Also social signals can help e.g. invest in FB ads for social shares or give away content/reports on social shares/likes/followers etc.... as these signals correlate with your safe backlinks and its growth velocity....

Above all keep your footprints under the radar and stay consistent ..... next penguin refresh I hope you're out of it!

      Again Best Of Luck!

PBNS is a never a "safe" link. It only takes one knowable SEO to dig into your link profile via ahrefs and report it to Google.
