Hello,
My site Url is www.mysitename.wordpress.com. Does this site have the ability to be indexed and ranked by Google?
Is it necessary to be www.mysitename.com to get indexed and ranked by Google?
Thank you in advance.

Your site can get ranked, but the core issue at hand is what your whole plan is with the website.

A .wordpress website is perceived as less authoritative to users across the internet (as many subdomains are) for starters. .wordpress sites are also limiting, so if you're building a site and plan to expand, you won't be able to get the content off the .wordpress website and will have to start from scratch. I also heard (don't quote me on this) that because Google is now focusing more towards building brand images, it may affect your rankings if you're on a subdomain.

Either way, I highly suggest getting a domain set up.

Yes. Your website can still be indexed and ranked by Google.

You can move over to a domain name and still manage it via Wordpress. The 301 redirect that is created will help update Google.

    Good luck monetizing a wordpress.com sub-domain.
