Adwords Suspended Me, Is This A LIFE Sentence? Please help!

I only recently started advertising on Google, n was having problems from day one. They said it was a technical issue at first, but my ads still weren't running.

So I've since called them about 4 times, asking what's going on, and just now got the told my accounts are suspended, my ads won't run "Do Not Contact Us Again"!

What the heck is that all about? I just invested the last 2+ months learning HOW to do affiliate marketing, and trying to learn Adwords (and a lot of $ on how-to with Adwords), now I'm suspended!

What's my best course of action? I really don't want to give up on using Adwords! Please help!

Dwad

P.S. Does this mean that ALL domains I EVER tried to advertise should NEVER be used again?

You'll need a new credit card, new ip, new google account, new domains, and new hosting, and clear your cookies (flash ones too). Signup under a different address and pray they don't link your new account with the old one and never, ever contact their support for any reason. It always leads to more problems, always.

Also, drop Google Analytics. They use it to keep track of your IP's and domain names.

Yea this, and drop analytics. It is basically a life sentence on all those sites.

Good advice has already been given as far as new company name, new ip, new address, credit card etc. or try different ppc companies, but are sure you did not violate their terms of service. If you do decide to go back to adwords just make sure you read every word of their TOS and then read it again.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Yeah, my mistake for not reading the TOS in depth.

I THINK my violations were regarding capitalization, use of exclamation marks etc. But I was never given any warnings or anything, aside from when I was putting up the ads in the system, no FORMAL warnings.

OK, so I think I'll TRY contacting support (even tho advised not to), THEN probably do all explained above, and use completely new details.

Problem is that my family has a business renting out a beach house, and I need to advertise that too!

BTW, I'm already planning on reformatting my entire PC within a few days, will that solve the cookies/IP address etc? What in particular do I have to watch out for?

I understand that I should NEVER use the same domains. But what about if I was using mysite.com, and I own the .org, .net, .info etc, can I use those? I even have to change my HOSTING?

Also, what I created a new account with one of my parent's details? Same last name of course, but everything else, and I guess I'll create another gmail account to link to it.

I've even invested in the Google Cash Detective, so this really sucks, and I just can't believe it!

    Regards,
    Dwas

P.S. I have an existing card from when I use to live in Australia, would it work if I used that one? Same name, different address?

I really can't believe that that is the reason.

What was the "Make Money" product you advertised exactly? That really could be the problem. I hope it was not a Google Money Tree or Google Cash or something like that?!

Another thing to consider: credit problems or problems with credit cards earlier. Such things that you can check if you are Google.

Also...new SSN or EIN! A must! That's why LLC is so important (or a family member).

EDIT: Adwords don't need SSN or TINS...got it confused with Adsense for a min there. Doh.

Excuse my ignorance, but wat is LLC and EIN? I've never lived in the USA, so these terms are unfamiliar to me.

You know what, forget that comment. I was thinking of Adsense....with Adwords SSN/EIN don't matter. Sorry!

I don't think you need a SSN/EIN for Adsense either. I signed up a few years ago. Is that required now?

An LLC is a Limited Liability Corporation, the major advantage is that your liability is limited to your company so your personal assets will be protected. If you start a company as a sole proprietor then all liability is on your business and personal assets. An EIN is an employee identification number this would be the business equivalent to a social security number.

OK, so now that we've discovered the LLC/EIN etc doesn't apply to me, please confirm the following that I would NEED to do in order to get back to using Adwords:

    1) Sign Up under a completely different identity (such as my brother/family)?
    2) Use completely different Credit Card?
    3) NEVER create a campaign for any domains I'd previously associated with Adwords?
    4) Change my IP Address?
    5) Use a completely new email address?
    6) Change hosting?

The main one I'm unsure of is changing hosting. I'm with HostGator. Is there some way I could ask them to change the hosting IP or something? Change nameservers etc?

It's generally as simple as getting a new gmail account, a new address, getting or changing a credit card to that address, and signing back up. I'm curious what kind of "how-to" products advise to do stuff that gets you suspended so quick.

    I had 5 campaigns total:
    1) My family beach house rental
    2) Review sites on niches: dating, fatloss, golf, make money

That's it! And actually only 2 of them EVER had activity, the beach house, and the make money. But both only got max 50 clicks, then just stopped. Really p*ssed me off!

1 other possibility was that I signed up for the free Google Cash Detective, which has an option to crawl your Adwords account, and you can manage it from there. In the TOS of Adwords, it mentions something about this being prohibited. Perhaps that's it.

Meantime, I've deleted EVERYTHING on my accounts, canceled 1 completely, and emailed their support to give me a 2nd chance. Fingers crossed...

No credit problems at all. The "make money" was cpaaffiliateprogramreviews.i-verdict.com/.

OK, so I'm still waiting to hear from them, but sounds like a clean slate with different name etc is in order. So while I understand that can't use the same domains, do I still have to change HOSTING altogether?

i hate to say it, but there must be SOME reason that they suspended you, and i dont think its things like "capitalization". That's never a reason for suspension.

I only was suspended once (because a targeted site i "cloned" with one of my tools) was attacked by a virus. So they suspended ME (!) like i have anything to do with it....but then the vendor in question fixed the site...i wrote a few emails...and 3 weeks later or so i was up again.

But..right now ALL my ads are paused since i am sick spending that much money on adwords...i am solely focusing on article marketing now.

Actually, I think I know why google has suspended your account. It could have been your credit campaign. They are very fun about many things. If Google decides that you are advertising something that 'they' consider questionable or shady, BAM!

The idea of using a family member to setup an account for you is reasonable. You'll just have to setup some format to pay them back for campaigns you run. Oh, be sure that they are not in the same street address as you.

My bet goes exactly at your make money landingpage, look at one of your pages there linked from your landingpage: Honest, No BS Cost Per Action (CPA) Affiliate Product Reviews

2 Products that use the Google term without the right to do it. Google went strictly against those offers, even lately. They banned a lot of accounts.

So my guess thats the reason with your page as well. And you have to admit it, it is rather silly to promote a false Google branded product on Google. Unfortunately even it is wasnt your primary promotion. Should be a lesson at least for the future

Even after a year this is still a sore subject for me.

A year ago, I was trying to get started on the internet marketing gig and planned on promoting my site using Google AdWords. From day one, my ads never ran. I thought it was an error with my budget because the error message I kept getting was that I hadn't adequately funded the campaign. My site was an experiment to test demand for a product, so I upped the budget to $500/day to test demand for 2 days.

After a week of my ads not running, I contacted Google support to figure out what was going on. The online support person couldn't help me (but she narrowed down that it wasn't the budget), so she referred my case to a team of "specialists" who analyzed my site and campaign for 3 days. At the end of 3 days I got a notice that I was permanently suspended with no explanation other than I had violated their terms of service. If it took the "specialists" 3 days to figure out how I had violated the TOS, how the heck was I as a newbie supposed to know what I had done to violate the TOS. I spent a week scrubbing my campaign and the TOS to figure out where I had erred, and ended up giving up in frustration.

I'm actually still pissed at Google to this day about how I was treated by the support staff after they decided to suspend my account. I was summarily treated as a diseased leper, given the same party line ("you have violated the TOS and you can never run with us again"), and shown the door, my newbie status notwithstanding. One of the several support folks I spoke with (as I was passed around and made someone else's problem) told me how bad she felt about my situation but per the party line couldn't help me. It must be a company policy to defend against fraud, but they make it hard for new folks who want to do the right thing and play by the rules.

Apparently I'm not the only person this has happened to (especially given this thread), as I discovered a disturbing number of forum posts, e-mails, and articles about newbies being banned and not being told what they did other than "You've violated the TOS and can never run with us again."

I've used Yahoo! Search Marketing, and not only was their support staff eager to please, they were very helpful and supportive of my experiment. And, I think it's because Yahoo! has the sense to realize that when you take time to help your customers (especially newbies willing to throw down some $'s) and not just indiscriminately ban them, you both come out winners - the customer with his/her product, and Yahoo! with the ad revenue.

Personally, I'm not sure if it's worth jumping through the hoops of getting a new credit card/SSN/address/whatever just to work with Google again. While it's highly improbable I'll ever achieve sufficient wealth and power to make Google feel my pain for how I was treated, I'm officially giving them the finger when it comes to PPC advertising. It hurts sometimes knowing I could probably grow my businesses faster with Google than with Yahoo!, but a year later I'm still standing on principle.

Go get another Adwords account and try again. From what I've seen they aren't as strict on duplicate accounts as what others are saying.

The rules about promoting "junk" are 100% true though. I'm sure that's what it was.

How do Yahoo and other programs compare to Adsense anyway? I assume they just do not pay as well? Never used anything but Adsense myself. I have not had an problems, but from what I hear, the thought of getting too dependent on them makes me nervous.

Well, I for one would be weary nowadays with multiple accounts...see my post in this thread "help-my-google-adwords-account-got-banned" ...sorry, my post amount is not high enough for links to be posted. I got banned also recently..and I am almost sure it was because of having more than one account. However, I tried to delete my previous one first.

I feel your pain. I just got suspended permanenty also. Google claimed I had several previous violations for supporting Google Money Tree. Up until then I had never heard of GMT and told them that. I suspect its because my last campaign was for an Article Submission product that claimed it could create many unique articles from your one article and fool Googles Unique content policy.
Whatever it is I have started ppc on Yahoo and MSN both treat me better.

I lost my account a little over a week ago also and I have been advertising with them for almost two years. This is a major hit to my income and now I am having to start all over with Yahoo & Msn/Bing.

The reason for the suspension I was told was that I was promoting something like Google Money Tree (which I wasn't - I hate those scammy cpa offers with a passion!!!).

After many emails and phone calls to customer support I was told that it was due to a past promotion that I did for "Google Cash Detective"

I tried to debate that "Google Cash Detective" is not one of those scammy cpa offers and it is a real and legitimate software program and adwords training course that I and many other full-time PPC marketers use.

Needless to say they weren't having it and I guess the bottom line is - IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR ADWORDS ACCOUNT DO NOT PROMOTE ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH MAKING MONEY ONLINE AND GOOGLE. NO MATTER HOW LEGITIMATE THE BUSINESS MODEL IS. BETTER YET I WOULDN'T PROMOTE ANYTHING GOOGLE RELATED PERIOD.

The worst part of all this is that it was months ago since I did that promotion and they are just now saying that my account is suspended! That campaign has been deleted since april. So if you have ever promoted anything Google related I would be counting your lucky stars they haven't found it yet.

Google is on a war path now that those Google Money Tree type offers have created such a bad wrap for biz opps and based on the other recent horror stories I have been seeing and reading I expect a lot more people to lose their accounts in the coming months as Google starts prying into more advertisers accounts and seeing what they are doing or have done.
