Question about Ranking on page one

A quick question for ranking on page one of search engines, I created a new niche site and searched for the proper keywords using a great software that lets me know if its possible to rank on the first page with anywhere from 5000 or more searches a month and also i have done the competition search in Google with the quotation marks, because I have read over and over, that is the way to get an exact search result so my keywords I'm using are any where between 1000 to 20,000 with the quotations I have written about 12 post and uploaded 8 videos to you tube and daily motion and am trying to get back links, so now when I search Google and Yahoo with my keyword in quotations a few of my videos and a post have shown up on page one and page 3 and page 5 but when I search for those keywords with out quotations I can't find my pages is this just a matter of getting back links to my site or should I start searching for keywords without the quotations. Any help would be appreciated Thank-you.

    Two things.

    First, unless you are talking about a specific quote like a line from a movie or a song lyric, nobody searches in quotes.

    Second, the number of results in the search engine when you perform a search has nothing to do with the level of competition.
