I have been trying to rank my local business on google for months. It has been going crazy and I can not figure out why.

I have high link diversity and about 297 backlinks showing on the webmaster tool.

My highest ranking achieved for one of my main keywords was 22. Since then it has just about tanked. EVERY TIME I get it crawling back up its like GOOGLE is playing a SICK JOKE and slaps me down.

Can someone please help me or does anyone know an affordable service that can help me figure out why!!!!?? My business is crawling because I can not get exposure.

Im so paranoid about google slaps that I dont even want to type out my .com on here in case they are watching. You can see my site address in the image below. I hate google. help

Here is a screen capture of my rankings.

You can see in the image before November I was ranking somewhat ok and that long straight line my site was actually nowhere to be found until I tried to work on it and it reappeared on the charts in December.

ill help you out for free. you only have 7 pages indexed. all of your back linking is going to your homepage, and you don't even rank for "home appliance repair charlotte nc" and that is a bit sad.

I might suggest reading: http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...marketing.html you basically have a lot of page development that needs to happen. I personally would be developing a page for each of those keywords you are tracking, and one for each of the areas you have listed in your lower left footer area. and don't forget a page each for the manufacturers you have listed.

Speaking of footer area. you really want to flip the content in the 2 footers you have around. contact info on the left, and other details on the right.

At this point you need to be in it to win it... do some research, now that you have an idea of what you need to know. learn the proper way of doing it.

Thanks for that info. That is some good stuff. I did SEO on many sites in the past and have ranked all of them in the 1st page and even 1st spot. Some are still alive and doing well. This one site is a total disaster and ironically it is my bread and butter real world business.

My past sites were no where near as hard to rank for and they did have medium competition. Non of them had to have what you recommended but I will definitely give it a go.

Should I be only trying to rank those keyword pages to advertise my business or will they help in getting my main site up?

Also, Why was I able to increase ranking only to be slapped back down? Is google ranking them then seeing there too many anchor texts and not enough pages?

I would think there could be a couple factors working here. I don't know your exact backlink profile. but I have seen cases where you have many of the right elements and also lack some,so you will get that swing in your positioning. Like Google saying yes... its good... oh no its not... oh yes its good.. oh no its not LOL

Looking at your chart, you can see you took a big swing up right after penguin 3.0. There was a recent Google rumbling - not considered an update that MAY actually have had some effect on you. I personally had some sites that took an upswing in a few cases as of late.

There are simply so many things it could or couldn't be. Think of it this way, this is literally your "Money Site" as in how you make money. you want to diversify your potential and lesson your overall exposure to say an "update" Think of it this way... how many 7 page sites do you think there are with 245 backlinks? Its just not "natural" looking.

You have to remember to stay on top of Google there is a good rule of thumb to go by. Google determinations of change are determined by math. you are less than a equation standard, your are equal to an equation standard or you are greater than an equation standard. anytime your site becomes an "exception" in either the case of greater or lessor, you will be subject to taking a Google hit. - the reason being is your site will be easily identified as being different than the norm.

        Hope that Helps!

I pulled up about 50 keywords I plan on making pages for. They will be listed by machine brand+type then type+town.

I am going to put unique articles on each one that are quality. I will be putting my service benefits, phone number, etc on the side bar so they show on all pages.

How should I link all these pages in the menu? Should I make sub pages or should I just build all these pages and just submit a sitemap and not have them linked within a menu?
If I put these pages in the menu and a visitor scrolls over a main category the subs will drop down below their screen.

You are creating "Landing Pages" and landing pages are just that, intended to gather and land traffic. I would create based on what you are saying 3 main nav pages "Locations" "brands" and "types" Part of the structure you need to think about is cross linking. having 50 pages out there focused on a single attribute in your overall SEO scheme is really not going to do you much good. so as you are developing the primary level of landers, you need to think of a secondary and 3rd layer that are intended for this purpose. Im sure you can figure something out.

Another thing you may want to look at is introducing schema code into your pages, give you a start on some reading: How to Use Schema Markup for Local SEO - Search Engine Journal

You are probably not ranking because ranking in Google is getting harder and harder. It was easier when you ranked your first set of sites, now it's way harder and you'll need lots of patience to avoid giving up when you aren't seeing any returns.
