How many keywords do you try to get into your articles and why? I'm asking because I've seen people teach it differently and I'm wondering what the best way of doing it is.

I Focus on only 1 main keyword (If competition is high I make it longtail) - and 3 / 4 secondary long tail keywords.

Quality is important with keywords. If you want to target several keywords, do a Google search for your main keyword, and then choose from the "related search" items that appear at the bottom of the page. You will find keywords that are related to each other. Google uses this type of LSI algorithm in their indexing. You will find the same methods in the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. You do not need to spend money on Google Adwords, but you do need to sign up for a free account. Good Luck!

working on many keywords leads to very big work. So if you don't have big budget or if you are working alone then chose best 3 and work on those first.

    Hi Bro,

At first target one keyword per page. Suppose you are writing a post on the social media sites list. This is your main keyword. Also use these keywords 2-3 variations....Like free social media sites list, social posting sites list etc. Use main keyword 2 times in 100 words...Try to write long form content at least 700+ words..Also use these tips....

    1) Quality content
    2) 2-3% keyword density
    3) Long form content
    4) Tag optimization........Etc......

It will help you definitely. If you have any problem with that, you can knock me any time.

    Warm regards,
    Taposh Kapuria

It really depends on the article length and what you're trying to accomplish. Use your main keyword-

    1) In the article title
    2) In the first sentence of the article
    3) In at least one of the sub-headings
    4) Another 1-3 times in the article, depending on length

You''ll also want to use variations of that keyword as well, but again...only when it fits naturally within the text. For example, if it's a great article that people enjoy and you only mention the keyword once, it will still rank better than an average article where you used the keyword 6 times.

With that in mind, don't look it at, "How many keywords can I stuff in this page?" Instead, just write great content that educates people and the words will fall in there naturally. Sometimes you may use 8 different keyphrases, or sometimes only 1. Either way is perfectly fine.

As many keywords as you can while striking a balance between keyword richness and readability. The majority of the keywords in your article should be long tail keywords because they are easier to rank for.

Its depend on articles , Like if you have an article of 1000 words then we can simply use 15 to 20 keywords. but remember , avoid yourself from keyword stuffing

      Hi,

The keywords in a article play a pivotal role in the communication of research. Without the keyword, the articles may never be read or even found by readers. But if you add 10 keywords or above to an article, you've just hurt the search rankings for that original keyword.

Because of spammy practices like that, Google has an algorithm set to limit the number of acceptable keywords to a percentage of the content on the page. Currently, that number is anywhere from 2-4% of total content, but this could change tomorrow. . Utilize the keywords, but limit them to about 10 keyword strings per post.

Don't look at keyword in relation to content you create but in relation to the page. You could have 2% in content, 5.5% on the page.

Right click on a web page, click 'view code' and check how many times a keyword appears when you look at code. Often it's a whole lot more than what's in the article/post.

One main keyword and 3-4 related keywords. You should use the main keyword at least 3 times.

Quality content with keyword is enough to build a great site. One thing inserting keywords is not the best thing unless you rank in top position. I always use only one keyword in title or article.

You can mix 2-3 keywords in variation in a article content with keyword-density 2-3%.

That's interesting - sounds like a lot of people are just going for 1 main keyword, and maybe 3 or 4 other keyword variations.

I watched a webinar a while back where SEO expert "Andrew Hansen" talked about how you can actually get more keywords than that in one article. I believe he said you don't want to repeat the same keyword several times these days because Google is getting smarter and will think you're trying to cheat the system by keyword stuffing.

But he mentioned 3 websites that were doing very well that had up to 50 keywords in their articles. 50 in one article might have been a rare example since you don't want to force keywords - you want your article to read well. But, I have found, while writing my own articles, that I can easily get at least 10 keywords in each article in most cases. I have a couple of articles that have like 20 keywords in them and they still read very well - nothing forced.

I only have like 6 articles so far, so I don't have them online yet. But, it was a few months ago that I saw that webinar and I'm still seeing people teaching that you should go after 1 to 3 keywords per article, so I just wanted to make sure that there isn't any problems with the way I'm doing it before putting my articles online. The only problem I can see with doing it this way is that it takes longer. But, when you can have 100 keywords with 10 articles instead of 30 keywords with 10 articles, I don't know why everybody isn't doing it this way. I would think you would want the 70 extra keywords with the same amount of articles, no?

You're over-thinking this way too much because you don't understand what a keyword actually is. Every single word you write on the page is a keyword to Google, and it analyzes what the article is about based on what it finds.

So let's say you're writing an article about the keyword "dog sleds". if you use the word "dog" eight times in an article, the words "sleds", "trainer" and "Eskimo" five times each, then Google is going to think you're talking about Eskimo trainers of dog sleds. And it will index you for any combination of those words, even if they are not naturally together like a true key-phrase.

Now, if you used the word "cats" six times in that same article though, then Google thinks it's an article about training dogs and cats. So you can stuff in as many keywords as you want BUT at the same time, you're also lessening the impact of the main phrase you wanted to target. Which makes the whole process useless.

As I said earlier, write one article per keyword and lightly sprinkle your other keywords in there as well when it's relevant. The top ten most important things of that article are making it enjoyable though, because without strong user interaction over a period of time, the keywords won't do anything for you anyway.
