Ranking above EMD forum ?

Hi ,
I have question for SEO experts
is it hard to rank in a keyword above a 2 years old forum wich target it by EMD (but .info domain) also have 1800 back linck for thatspecial page (home)
PS: the forum is ranked #2 above google images .
PS2: i think its backlinks are weack

    Google has already come out and said they don't give EMD the same kind of credit they used to. With that in mind, I do believe you could rank above them.

    How/Why do you think it's backlinks are weak?

    If you have a good domain (even if its not EMD) and it has good content, with good quality backlinks..Then it might take some time, but there is no reason you can't rank above an EMD.

      Indeed , but they still give a credit even if it was little .
      i think his backlinks are weack because he is ranking above a common website page but no seo optimized , just 7 BL from 5 domains and 1 page rank . also the page contains only few hundred words article .
      another reason the total 1800 BL are coming from just 30 diffrent domains ...

    As others have eluded to, EMDs get no real boost simply for having keywords in the domain, so don't worry about that factor.

    As far as backlinks go, is it 1,800 total links or links from 1,800 total domains? Those are two totally different things! There's little difference between 1 link from 1 domain or 1,000 links from 1 domain. So if the 1,800 links are from less than 100 total unique domains it's not too intimidating, but if they are from hundreds of domains it'll likely be quite a challenge.

        That wouldn't concern me at all then. To me, 1,800 BLs from 30 unique domains is basically the same thing as 30 backlinks from 30 domains. So in theory, if your website is really well optimized, you should only need 20-40 solid unique backlinks to outrank them.

    Without seeing the specific serp you are talking about it'd be very difficult to give you suggestions on what to do. It's easier to outrank forums than other sites, so when you see forums in the serps, it probably means you won't have a hard time ranking, but it's not always so.

      my only problem is those 1800 backlinks , they just make me confuse specially being new in niche websites .
