SEO Quake A Google No-No?

Downloaded the SEO Quake for Firefox site analysis tool in Vista. Looks like a great tool, but now I find out that's Google doesn't look too kindly on these tools

When I tried posting earlier, after downloading the tool, I kept getting all the SEO Quake icons/links in my Warriors posting box. Tried deleting but they kept coming back and couldn't post (need to have at least 15 posts before I can have that many links).

Finally just disabled all the SEO Quake options and got rid of the links. Now I just want to get rid of the thing before it bites me.

Anybody know how to uninstall this beast in Vista? Their website gives uninstall directions that are useless. Tried the regular uninstall in Vista, but program not listed anywhere.

To uninstall just click on Tools / Add-ons and then select the add-on itself and press the uninstall button.

BTW - G does not know what tools you use. However, I got rid of SDEO Quake because it is a resource hog. At least in my poor pathetic system it was.

No problem! Don't completely rule it out for future use. I load it every now and then. Just to test a my sites. Then I boot it. It is a good tool just a hog on my system.

Not a bad idea. It did seem pretty cool. Now that I know how to uninstall it, I'll keep an open mind about it and maybe use it some time.

I've been using this plugin for about a year or so with no problems. I'm not sure why you had so much difficulty with it although I suppose there are some settings you can turn on that could cause trouble.

I have seen people have the SEOQuake info embedded in their posts here. I'm not sure what option would do that but I've never had that problem.

What Google, Yahoo, etc. don't want is a lot of automated queries to their systems. They don't seem to mind just the toolbar query but you can get a temporary lockout if you try to do 100 queries as once like you will if you try to display a search results page with embedded SEOQuake info. Not to mention that this is slow.

      Did you try Siteblaster's suggestion?

"To uninstall just click on Tools / Add-ons and then select the add-on itself and press the uninstall button."

In the begining, (at least for me) it was very non-obtrusive. Then they made an update and BAMM my system was hit hard. My FF was brought to a crawl and I am a default kinda of user. I make no tweaks to plugins like that.

So I think it is different from system to system.

I could not see any adsense ads after I installed SEOQUAKE on my firefox. There's a small note from Adspy telling me how many adsense ads on the page but all the adsense ads on the page were blanked out . I removed SEOQUAKE immediately but I still could not see any adsense ads on webpages even with my Flock or IE. What browser settings has it changed to disable adsense ads on my pc ? Adsense ads were showing prior to the installation and it ran fine with my pc's firewall and antivirus...so it must be due to SEOQUAKE. I've reinstalled Java, upgraded firefox to 3.5, ensure JAVA option checked in browser, etc..but still no ads. How do I resolve this ?

well the disadvantage of seoquake is that it eats your bandwidth...Alternative is SEOpen for quick site info

re SEOpen--tried it, like it--especially the way it allows you to check a lot or a little, and to specify which element to check. Thanks for the tip!

I have been using SEOQuake with no problem. I don't have all the features set.

I had problems. Google told me they were blocking my requests because they are automated, and they don't like it.

Linkextend for FF has the most important features of seo quake. No one cares about Bing indexes, and you can get alexa sparky for FF seperately.

An seo tool duo that is magic for me is siteexplore on yahoo coupled with seo link analysis FF plug-in from yoast de valk. Check them out, that Dutch man is a dude.

It's a great tool but it does have a habit of getting you a temporary ban on google if you have it on all the time.

      Go to tools>seoquake>preferences>plug ins tab>load parameters>by request.

That way it will only send you info when you need it.

Yep I think it works better on chrome than firefox. LOL yeah I never had problems with it either. But yep it does eat up some bandwidth and queries Google for data
