Does anyone have any tips or insights on effectively Ranking Images?

I've read a ton on ALT text, Title Tags, etc but I was wondering if anyone has any specific case studies / tips / insights that may not be in those articles.

Thanks!!

I rank images all of the time in the top 10 images for keywords.

    1) ALT Text

    2) Title Tags

    3) Keywords in the name of the file

    4) Back link to the post/page image is on

    5) Back link to the image itself

    6) Share images on social networking, Reddit, Pinterest, etc

SchoolOfKA laid it all out there for you. Don't make your ALT and Title tags too terribly long, just have them going after the keyphrase you want to rank it for. Same with the filename, consider using - as well between the words. Building backlinks to the image and sharing it socially will be pretty important steps!

    Good tip from Yukon there,

If your images get popular OP watch out for dicks hotlinking them from your site and using your server resources.
