Webmaster Tools site submission question.

When I submitted my site to Google Webmaster Tools as http://mysite.com it asks to "add a site" for the www.mysite.com version as well. So now both versions are listed on my dashboard with my "preferred" version set as the www. version. Do I need to submit a crawl for both versions? Right now all my stats are for http and none for the www. even though the www. is supposed to be the preferred. Does that make a difference or does it automatically know it's the same site? Further, when backlinking does it matter if the backlink is for http://mysite.com or www.mysite.com since it ultimately goes to the same site? Thanks in advance.

    Look , you already selected your Prefer url & suggested Google which one to Follow , but that's not all .

    You will loose Link juice as your Visitors still can access both version .you should only get only one version of your website.

    3 http://www.mysite.com/index.php/html etc

    with current scenario you have different versions , If you chose one version all the link will be pointing to one Version & you will not be loosing any link juice , everything coming to one URL .

    You did it correctly by adding both and setting www. to preferred. I would focus on building all backlinks to the www version. While you'll still get credit for both, when it comes to using tools like Ahrefs and such, it's better to have just one version you can go off of.

    Also, since you set the www version to preferred, there is no need to submit/resubmit it into Google. Google will find and index it that way automatically.
