    I think mostly companies are not doing their project properly

    you have to see what is the background of the company

    also see how many projects are under the company & what is the ranking of the keyword then give them your project

    I belive the best measure of it is if they ask you to pay for results or for backlinks, if the company charge for results only that means once your position drop you stop paying them, so it`s important for them to do it right way to keep results as long as possible. Other kind of services can`t guarantee you nothing except backlinks, some tasks they will do except positions in Google. This is how we work in my country since the beginning of Google, no one here want to pay for backlinks or other tasks without quarantee of 1st page appearance, cos truely only results matter, and this is what always works for both sides, SEO company and customer. If you are satisfied with the results you are long term customer, and long term customer is a pure GOLD, simple.
