Is it possible to lose PR?

I dont really monitor my PR much, but i checked today and it was zero. Last time i checked (couple months) it was 2.

Is it possible for your PR to go down? If so, how?

    • Now thats a very good reply for the probable reasons for a page rank to decline. The decline in backlinks can also be a cause for your PR drop. You just need to simply concentrate on building good quality backlinks from relevant and high PR sources. Backlinks is an important factor in determining the Page Rank of your site..
  • Well...maybe it really doesn't matter. I have a website that was a PR 4 two years ago with 1,000 unique hits per month. Today it is a PR 2 and has over 30,000 uniques per months. So, am I worried about the PR drop? Hardly! The website is nested comfortably at the top of the first page which is otherwise filled with PR 6 to PR 4 websites top to bottom. I'm sure everyone else is wondering how the hell did a PR 2 get to the top of the rankings?

    Quit looking at PR and work on building backlinks to the interior pages, or the money page of your website and everything will work out very nicely.

    I agree Will, i said i dont really focus on PR, i was just wondering if it can drop, which apparently it can.

    I would much rather drive traffic than focus on PR, but i am still struggling to drive traffic even. Its not an easy business thats for sure, but im only 8 months in to a 5 yr plan for my site
  • if the number of backlinks loosen..your PR will loosen as well

    • yes it is really true. if backlinks is loosen will probably your pr will loose. try to monitor it as much as possible. if you have something to do about your site then why taking it for granted? if you already started to have and gain high pr then live it to the fullest. dont just waste your time and effort on gaining your pr.


      try to consult some SEO analyst. have the site for further information.

  • Sure.. chance of loosing bcz Google updating PR monthly now and if loose some BL this may happen
