Good content tends to have the fortunate effect of both increasing your one-way in-bound links (people like to link to sites they find interesting, thoughtful, informative, or helpful), thereby improving your Page Rank, while at the same time producing keyword rich web page is good for both human viewers and search engine spiders.

I agree. Focus on great content 50% of your time, and content distribution 50% and everything such as back links organically sorts itself out.

There are new factors such as link relevance that now come in to account. Bear in mind that the page rank you see in the Google toolbar is at least 6 months behind the real page rank that Google uses. Although limited by sample size, the results indicated that Page Rank is not an overwhelmingly dominant component of website ranking on Google. If it were, the average of correct Page Rank order for keywords really should be somewhere around 4 to 5 (the real average is about 2.15).

Thus, other factors including Keyword Density in webpage content, title, and even the URL, play a significant role in webpage ranking. I want to mention that, while looking over some of my own results, I noticed that all keywords came up with webpages within the first 10 SERP (search engine results page) that had absolutely no Page Rank at all (PR 0).

I think pagerank don't have much effect more on rankings... It help, yes, but not much...

The most important now is create authority and relevant backlinks.

    Hi,

I don't think page rank will affect on SERPs. Because Google has stopped updating PRs. Now we need to take care about Domain Authority, Page Authority. This authorities will help you in improving your SERPs.

PageRank is the internal calculation value in Google's ranking algorithm we may never see which is no longer updated. The effect of it is minimal and to improve on SERP's, must have good quality contextual back links

It's true, Google stopped updating PR's a while ago. But do focus on building links, quality over quantity if you can, and keep writing content that is unique and informative!

That is a lie. No DA and PA do not effect the rankings. They are 3rd party metrics.

PageRank is a part of the algorithm, but it was always a minor signal and one that we never could obtain accurate data on. Now we can get zero data on it because Google is no longer updating the data publicly.

This whole thread is a waste of time. Try using the search button once in awhile. This same topic hast been discussed over and over on this forum.

NONE of them or any other listed actually effect the rankings. They are third party metrics. They are only good to look at when judging or trying to determine if you can rank.

PR used to affect SERP extremely heavily. But Google knew that many people leveraged that unethically, so Page Rank has little effect on SERPs.

The only exception is two identical sites in terms of social media signals, content, visitors, time on site, backlinks. THEN, the site with higher PR will prevail somewhat in terms of SERPs.
