Review Site - Categories vs Filters
- SEO |
After my keyword research I've came to the conclusion that the most searched terms are subcategories which can be grouped under 3 categories - 1)Brands, 2)Appliance, 3)Type.
For instance if I make a site for Computers- 1) HP Computers, Dell computers, etc, 2) Gaming Computers, Web Computers, etc. 3) Laptop computers, Desk computer, etc.
So the pages that I want to rank for are the subcategories (hp, gaming, laptop etc.) and this means that those will be made as category pages that's for sure. So I will have around 50 such pages grouped under 3 categories. They all will be linked from the Home page via drop down menus. All category pages will have some content and below it there should be the links to the product pages.
My main dilemma is how to list the products into these category pages so it will be SEO friendly and User friendly.
My main idea is to make filters in each category page. Like if you are under some brand category computers you can filter by appliance, type, price, ram, cpu etc. If you are under appliance category you can filter by brand, type, price, ram etc. And of course there will be one page where you can use all filters if you want to filter only by price, ram, cpu etc.
That means that only the page that has all filters is enough for the users but there will be many more pages (for every category) where one option will be already chosen (brand, appliance or type) and again the same filter will be available well and a little useful content except of the filter. There will be some duplication but it will achieve my SEO goals - have a page for every category and will be user friendly. What do you think of this idea is it good?
