Hi all,

So one thing that is most important to us as online marketers is getting indexed in google, right?

A few years ago after reading about bum marketing I found this real easy to do, usually taking only minutes; however these days it seems to take a little longer.

I made this earlier today Allotments-uk Forum - Campaign for More Allotment Plots in Witney and submitted it to kirtsy, kwoff and reddit - a year ago or so this would have been indexed in minutes, but noadays it takes 1-2 days.

My question is simple... How quickly can you guys get a new page indexed in Google?

Have you got any neat tricks for getting indexed in minutes or is it just that now we have to live with the fact that it takes a few days.

Interested in your thoughts.

I've been able to get entire sites indexed in hours. Just depends on where you get the links from.

I made a site yesterday and I got indexed the next day. The only things I did was have google sitemap plugin for wordpress so my sitemap was submitted to google, yahoo, etc. I then social bookmarked my site using Mike`s socialbot.. followed by submitting my rss feed using Mike`s rssbot. That`s all I did and all my pages were indexed. Not sure if it was a fluke but I just read another thread that their website got indexed in a day too.

You an get pre-indexed in hours.

This is a preliminary index where Google will give you the "benefit of the doubt" and give you a good ranking if the other factors are correct.

But soon - usually between a few days and a few weeks the site is run through the main algorithm - which takes vast computing power - and you will get your real rank according to the SEO considerations and age of the site and domain.

IM'ers have always exploited this "window of opportunity", the strategy being to just keep building "throwaway" sites, but I would not recommend it.

It is a lot of work for a very short term return with no future.

Better to focus on a single site - or three at most - to develop it over the long-term including search engine position.

Thanks for the interesting views. So the best think is not to worry about getting indexed in a few hours or days, but to play the long game?

I don't rely on one source for getting indexed. I use about ten well known spots.

Bookmark with some of the social bookmarking sites such as humsurfer and choose for the "tag" in that site which have high page rank and important. Not every social bookmarking will be index by G instantly. For the normal webpage, previously is Xomba (but I'm not sure now). G will change her indexing for authority sites from time to time.

There are many ways you can get indexed by google. Forget submitting your site to google. The fastest way you can do this exercise is by writing original content that is of high quality and submitting it to high page rank article directories like e-zine articles and go articles. These high PR Article sites are visited by the major search engines like google and if you have an article submitted to them then your website will be picked up from here and get indexed.

Setup your Google Profile. Set up a decent profile of yourself and what you do through your Google account.

Do the same with Yahoo, MSN, Ask, and any other search engine. Don't forget any secondary search engines that may fit your demographics.

The easiest way to get a bus to run over you is to jump in front of it.

We recently added a hypnosis session to help people get rid of hangovers. This was put up on my RSS feed (+ pinged) and Twitter and as soon as I checked Google about 20 minutes later the page was already on there and ranking rather well.

Just built a site yesterday wich was indexed within ~6 hours. I spoon-fed Google with it: I added my own RSS Feed to my Google Reader account, submitted a Sitemap, added the site to Webmaster Tools and set up an Mini-Blog on my blogger account with the link to the site in it.

Finished the site yesterday late evening, found it in the SERPS on spot #5 this morning.
