I imagine this topic is discussed a lot, but I am a bit confused. I have 2 sites that I want to beat their ranks, and there backlinks are really weak. One only has about 17 and they're not topic specific. Really, they look like they may have been bought. The other site has500+ backlinks, but they're all to the same forum. It's a small niche so I I guess I can see how they ranked like they did, but how does posting to the same forum over and over help your ranking? I am trying to find was to create quality backlinks, and I don't mind posting to forums and what not. But, I was thinking that I needed to post to several different forums, but posting to only one over and over worked for my competitor. Please, could someone shed some light on this for me?

    If the competition is low than you should focus on quality content, you will rank easily with less seo work.
    Keep track on serp changes if there is no changes after weeks, start niche link building.

      Yes. I agree, just to add that a few High Quality backlinks could also help together with the content as this is going to help him maintain on the #1 position!

    There are many SEO expert said about this
    If you create a lot of Backlink from 1 website, the effect of other backlinks will decrease
    Be patient jester!
    What you need to do is continue to create backlink from various forums, blog... BE consistent!
    With the google update 2015, the RANK will change with delay!
    Just do the same as what you did before and you will beat your weak competition soon

    Google has own monopoly in the search engine market. Last couple of years Google comes with different search engine updates and these updates hard to rank the website on search engine even top Internet marketer fail to give the solution for that.

    Now in 2015, Google comes with the more search engine updates and try to encourage the people to use Adwords.

    But, if your content is good then you don't need 1000 of backlinks, just start from the web 2.0 websites posting and index them through social bookmarking.

    Backlink is one of the metrics but not the basis to determine the site's rankings.
    If you want to overcome your competitors analyze the competition and their behavior then come up with a strategy that will produce better services for the targeted users.

    you know that if you post more quality content than your competitors than google will automatically rank you more with just basic seo techniques also ....so yes the content is the king.....

      I remember when I just changed a website, and was still building everything from scratch, GOOGLE kept dropping the website until from the 1stpage to the 4th page.

      So it all depends on content

    --> Answer is, it does, but it has a diminishing rate of return on improving SEO results.
    --> It could also be the case that they have other efforts to it but they've somehow hidden it from whatever tool you use

      Make sure you out do them on the content and try to get a few high quality links and you should be good. Sounds like you can rank without much effort based on the description of your competition.
