I have set up some subdomains blogs and keep posting arcticles with backlinks on them for about two monthes. Most of the articles are indexed by google. But the backlink numbers of my site doesn't change when checking the seo tools. And the rank doesn't change too. Is it means this way does not work?

  • Links from the subdomain are not considered as external links but they are considered as internal links, this is the reason why your backlinks are not counted. hence avoid backlinks from subdomains.
  • It may work for subdomains which has good DA.
  • If your "subdomain blogs" are brand new blogs they don't have any link juice to pass. A backlink is a backlink, but the linking site has to have a decent link profile for the link to be worth something. Of course I'm just guessing here, but these misconceptions seem to be fairly common, as is the futile waste of time that's involved.

I'm not sure which SEO tools you're using, but the more advanced ones use their own spiders and databases. They may not just notice something for a few months, or may never find a link that you know exists.

This is blatantly false. Anything not from your own domain is an external link. It doesn't matter one bit wether subdomains are involved.

And this is true even if the link is from the subdomain of your own domain. Wether or not Google Google discounts such links is another discussion.

    • I am totally agree with you. The subdomain I mentioned is not from my own site. So they are obviously external linkes. Zero link juice backlinks is benefit my site, isn't it? I am confused whether my effort is a waste of time.

  • Using internal backlinks is not a bad idea, if you want to send your visitors to some other articles you wrote. They won't help you in terms of ranking, especially if the subdomains are new, but they might keep visitors on your website longer.

    • Subdomain links are considered as internal links and they got nothing to do with backlinks. You can use: with good DA and good page rank, and keep that post active. Use long tail match keywords in anchor text.
  • Yes certainly as of princy 91 said,it would be no use of getting backlinks form subdomain as those backlinks will not taken into account while counting the no. of backlinks and also it would be best if you are able to get backlinks form the blogs of your niche.

  • To answer your original question...Are backlinks from free blogs effective?

Any backlink that is not on a spammy site is going to help. Creating your own subdomains and backlinking to the main domain isn't going to hurt but it sure isn't going to help that much, especially if they are brand new and that's what is sounds like. You want backlinks from established trustworthy websites. That's what is going to help you the most. Creating blogs on free web 2.0's or any other place isn't going to help as much as if you put the effort into getting 1 decent quality backlink from an established blog.

Links from sub domain are useless. It will be better for you to create backlinks on high pare rank site like facebook, twitter pinterest and so on you can also create social page for traffic.
  • Subdomains will rank easily as the main page rank is high. The link juice from these subdomains will help because of High PR blogs.

    Example Wordpress, Blogspot, Weebly.
  • I'm assuming you're referring to .blogspot and .wordpress.com sites?

If so, you're better off working with either SEO consulting companies and/or network with top bloggers and authority sites to get them to link to you in a way that adds relevant value both to you as well as their website visitors.

  • Actually, this is the same question I have come to the forum today. And reading your questions I realized one thing: ALL SEO is BULLSHIT(except GOOggle advice and Blackhat). I am a newbie.I haven't made a good website yet, but I am trying every tool. I have just tried Ahref. It doesn't show the backlink form a subdomain, but Google recognize the link and when there was no indexing of my website , Google was still showing the page from the subdomain where I put the backlink for the website. Actually, it was the only presence of my domain on the web, so it was showing that. It means Googlel knew the reference. These SEOs are ZERO muttiply them 10000 times they will remain zero. I tried a famous SEO blogger tool Accidentally. I accidentally put in my email address. It showed 9 errors with my blog. Ha? It was a mistake that saved me a lot of money. Now I am learning today that either you play with Google guidlines or go Blackhat. there is no SEO. All that SEO is actually Shit Earning Organizations

    • You know it's Balckhat SEO, right?

And, just because you don't know how to do it, it's not shit.

      Think about it!

    • Lol

Never heard Fiverr sellers called that before.
  • Any link will be of benefit it you put good content on it and build good links to it. Everything online is about doing it RIGHT. This is a great article I found that illustrates the point on creating good content on web 2.0 blogs.

The key is not to expect to dump awful content onto a new subdomain site and rank or get a decent link. Same with everything online now - build quality and nurture it.

    • I'm calling BS on this advice without reading it. You're probably ignoring that the PR is for individual pages and not sites, and you're not getting a link on a PR9 page. It seems likely that you don't understand that new blogs don't have any link juice to give out.
